PERFORMER'S GUIDE 2007
Frequently Asked Questions
1. My band would like to perform @ the Scoopers' Lounge. How do I make an application?
A: You can approach any of our B&J staff and ask for the Performers Application Form. Fill in the necessary details and we will contact you as soon as possible to arrange for an audition date.
2. Where, when and what time are the auditions?
A: All auditions will be held @ The Scoopers' Lounge (B&J Cathay) itself on most Monday nights (9pm, 9.30pm & 10pm)
3. How many songs does my band have to perform during the audition?
A: All bands or performers are required to perform 3 songs during the audition. Being able to perform songs from different genres is an advantage.
4. Presuming that my band has successfully passed the auditions, what happens next?
A: Every band or performer who has successfully passed the auditions would be given an opportunity to perform on a trial basis. During this trial performance, the band or performer will be monitored/assessed.
5. What happens after successfully completing the trial performance?
A: The band or performer would then be given more opportunities to perform.
6. What days and times are the performances held?
A: Performance days are from Tuesdays - Saturday Nights. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, performances are from 9pm till 10.30pm. Fridays and Saturdays performances are from 9pm till 12.15am.
7. How long is my band supposed to play during each performance?
A: The minimum requirement of each performance is two sets of 30 minutes and maximum being three sets. Please note that we strongly advice against playing the same song twice during each performance unless our B&J fans request the band to.
8. How many songs do we have to perform in order to last one set of 30 minutes?
A: Depending on the length of each song, the average number needed to sustain a 30 minute set is 7-8 songs. (Considering that each song is around 3½ - 4 minutes long)
9. What instruments and equipments do B&J provide @ the Scoopers' Lounge?
A: We provide a standard 5-piece drumset with cymbals, a keyboard, a keyboard stand, guitar amplifier x 2 , bass amplifier x 1 , vocal microphones x 3 pcs and music stand x 1 pc.
10. What happens if my band is late for an audition?
A: Punctuality is very critical in the making of any successful band or performer. Bands and performers are required to turn up 20 minutes before their scheduled audition or performance time.
E.G. If the allocation audition time is set at 9pm, bands or performers should arrive by 8.40pm to do their necessary set-up and sound checks. The auditions will begin on time. Late comers will not be entertained as another band might be waiting in line for their schedule audition.
11. What happens if my band does not pass the audition?
A: B&J believes in giving young, aspiring bands or performers a good opportunity to showcase their musical talents. However, a certain music standard must also be met.
Bands or performers who fail to get through the auditions should not be discouraged. B&J would gladly give bands or performers a second chance to come back for another audition. However, this is at our discretion.
12. My band has a small following and we wish to hold a mini-concert @ The Scoopers' Lounge. Is this arrangement possible?
A: Yes! Established bands are more than welcomed to hold mini-concerts. We could even assist in the planning and organization. *Terms and Conditions apply...
