hi all..i just bought my first guitar 2 weeks ago..but until now, i have encountered many many difficulties..first is the finger streching..my fingers can't strech very far and i have short fingers...second is finger strength..they do not have eough strength..third is for some reason, when i learn finishe the song, i jus ccan't seem to play it..i mean i memorised the tabs and all those stuffs but when i play with the backing track and the vocals, i just can't follow and would get nervous and would screw up...please help me..now alot of my enthusiasism is gone and i am v discouraged..i love guitar but its just that i am not making any progress with it..please help.thanks alot

How long have u been playing? 2 weeks? If it's only 2 weeks, than it's normal. Rome is not build in a day. Just keep playing..
Make sure you are able to play the song without the backing track first, than you progress to the backing track. If you can't stretch far, that means.. u need more practice. Fingers no strength? MORE practice. End of the whole story is.. MORE practice. Practice makes perfect ;)

i noe i need more practice.. but what sort of finger exercises??? i found 2 useful ones that i found on youtube and have been practicing them to the point where i can go quite fast without mistakes..but i am still not improving..i am still trying to find one finger exercise that really streches the fingers but is not too difficult

these, my friend, are teething hurdles. chances are, my fingers are shorter yours but there are some things i have accomplished with this instrument. same goes for fingering pressure, i used to get easily frustrated when playing because of the after-playing pain but as i observed the pros at work, there are many things i have observed & picked up. unlike the beginners of today whose electric set-up can very much aid the learning process, i began with an accoustic, which was a sheer put off...

but it's a totally different story now :-)

its always the case when picking up something new,its never easy.
your not the only one,if your discouraged by this small setback its kinda sad dont you think? just practise everyday and you'll be fine

the intro of Colorado Bulldog by paul gilbert, the ending part of scarified by paul gilbert, very good finger stretch. Stretch until you high

Hi, only my 1st post... I think.
Anyway, I've learnt guitar during my poly days. I started from a classical guitar. You REALLY have to STRETCH your fingers. It was like impossible. But I still managed in the end. So the best advice is still PRACTICE. Play the song you like as much as possible without you getting bored or tired of it. If you feel tired or fingers hurt, rest. Then when you've rest enough, continue and play your guitar.
Learn a few songs, not just 1 that you like. It helps.
If you really like 1 song, by all means, go ahead and learn to play it perfectly. Practice 1st without anyway backing music/tracks. Once you can change cords without looking much at the fretboard, then try playing according to timing. Timing in your head. Once you're confidence then go with backing track.
Main thing is HAVE FUN. No point being perfect but you don't enjoy playing the song or even worse, the guitar.
Anway, what guitar did you get?

Hmm... Yeah, it's good to start with an acoustic. That really helps with finger strength. And start with chords. I used to paly off chord sheets from ultimate-guitar, some are really simple songs! Trains finger strength. And then slowly progress to tabs, Chords is a good way to build foundation.

Hi all , i just started guitar 1 month ago and i can't seem to change chord easily or fast enough. i tried timing myself to change at the 4th strum but it never sort of works out. why is that so? anybody know?? >.<

Hahah, try practicing changing without timing, then go to changing with timing. Use a metronome, If you don't have one there are metronomes online. And again, much practice is needed.

Sir i think that you can improve your left hand strength trmendously by doing trills on an acoustic guitar do it gradually non stop from 1 min to 2 min and so on .You will definetely see an improvement in your left hand when you return back playing the electric guitar.
For the fingers that cannot strecth try this play the A note on the E string and play the D note on the same string and use only your left hand no picking
basically a strecth trills:)
