Baybeats 2008 Photos

Back again to share more gig photos!
Went for day 1 & 2 of Baybeats and caught several bands performing.

Seen lots of people, all kind of people having fun.
Girls having fun, boys having fun, photographers having fun, musicians having fun, babe beside me with her friend talking to some Filipinos' guys before Typecast perform having fun, bodysurfers having fun, moshers having fun, security personnel having fun.
This time round didn't have trannys' having fun though, those who went to Electrico's We Satellites tour @ Youth Park would know.

Chatted with a few photographers' during the time I was there at the frontline, and saw a few familiar faces that are also shooting back then at the Electrico's gig @ Youth Park during National Day.

Onto the technical aspect, I never fail to screw up somewhere eh?
Didn't manage to get officials access to this gig this time round, that means I'm confined to a spot to shoot and have no freedom to roam around, which I totally hate that cause that means the photos' composition/angles/etc... will be compromised.
But oh well, have to work with what I have.

Bands that I watched/photograph:

- The Shine&Shine&Shine&Shine
- Force Vomit
- Typecast
- Vertical Rush (Halfway through the set.)
- Faspitch (Last couple of songs only and didn't shot them due to just arrive at the event, and was at the sidelines.)
- Electrico
- Joy Electric

Love Electrico, Vertical Rush and Typecast most out of those bands I watched.
The Shine&Shine&Shine&Shine are pretty good too, unique style, well maybe it's just me.

Thanks for reading till this far lol, sort of like an afterthoughts of the event for me.
OK, scroll down for the photos!

Thanks. :)

It's not about close or not, it's about perspective when taking the photos.
If you have access, you can roam around, meaning any perspective and distance you are able to take the shots.

Nikon D70 + 85mm f/1.4 + SB800

Need to save up much faster to get a new body, current body is too slow and iso noisy and low iso limits.

Definitely not me who dropped the slr though, hope whoever drop that slr is working well too.

ahha yea...

i reckon my body's relativelyfast laa d80 just that i need to get a faster lens. my current lens definitely not fast enough

hey there, great pics! altho #23 catches me in an extremely odd pose. mind if i use a few of your pics? promise to give picture credits where they're due :)

adly: D80 is good enough if you are a beginner going for gig photography.
Add in a 50mm or 85mm you are good to go, both lens are cheap and value for money, for the f/1.8 counterpart, even better if you don't mind used equipments.
But of course if you know you are serious in doing gig photography + got money to burn, you can straight whack the 70-200mm at least, it's one of the most used lens in gig photography in my opinion.

Dream gig setup:
1) 70-200mm
2) 24-70mm
3) 85mm
4) 14-24mm
5) 50mm
6) 2 bodies, at least 1 full frame
7) External flash(es)

But still it depends on your shooting style, everyone's setup will be different.
Hope this helps.

milkmesto: Thanks.
For usage of photos, just follow the T&C posted in the first post and you will be fine. :)

Just save/work for it, I totally stopped a few of my hobbies to concentrate fully on photography.
Everything comes with a price, furthermore I'm currently a NSF.

In my opinion, go for a tele lens first would be a better option, either a 85mm or 70-200mm, just get the original brand lens, so once and for all you don't need to upgrade anymore and for the quality.

Definitely the SB800, and the price of it is dropping much, since the SB900 is about to be released or out already, didn't have time to check out much on equipments nowadays.
I think an used SB800 would be around $300-350 now if I remember correctly.

yeaa photography is a rather expensive hobby but nevertheless its very fun =D

havent visited clubsnap forum in awhile so not sure about what new stuff happening haha
