Bass strings to recommend

Hi guys,

Care to share what kind of 4-string bass strings you use? Been using Elixirs but there are burning a large hole in my pocket!

rotosound or ernieball, actually you can try all brand and see which one you like, its all bout preference 8)

typical singaporean  dude, you should change instrument to guitar, guitar string is cheaper, its like 7-10$,bass string will cost you like 24-60$,seriously,imho there's no value for money string

actually.. i don't know if sweelee still sells them, but they used to have a twin-pack of d'addario XLs for $40. effectively $20/set, and they sounded pretty good from a price/performance perspective.

i use thomastik or DR. If it's for a gig that i want to get really punchy tone then i use ghs flea boomers but those die on me after about 3-4 hours.

this is a Singaporean forum rite? :D

no,this is a music forum  ...i assume your 'value for money' is cheap but good, well, the cheap but good to me is rotosound,24$ per packet, cheers my friend 8) [/list]

+1 to rotos. best value for money

daddario prisms are my top choice tho, but you can only get wat's left of it in sweelee, in .45s

i've tried rotosound's nickel strings... it sounded too twangy.
rotosounds stainless steel was a bit better.

how a using flat wound.... cost a bomb.... but it has a nice fel to it when u play.

twangy as in? to me rotosound nickel is abit mellow,i prefer ernie ball super slinky, brighter sound,i wonder if DR is brighter than ernie ball super slinky

serious? but for slapping i found rotosound kinda mellow,i prefer ernie ball for some reason,im using 130-105-85-65-45 sadowsky bright nickel, surprisingly they make a good string as well

i use warwick stainless steels, really cheeep, <$20 at sweelee, bought it a year ago, but found it a month ago....now after abt 4 weeks of slap popping, theyre almost dead....

For me think I'll stick to DR. Currently have the long necks for 35" scale. Tapered strings, sounds great. Very good for slap tone.
