i read somewhere that bass at natural finish such as what warwick made, actually need alot of maintanace and stuffs . and i feel like getting a warwick streamer or the soundgear series by ibanez. heard that because of singapore humidity, it will cause moss, and holes appear at the bass ...so, i am still decideing wether to buy the bass or not haha

holes attributable to humidity- not possible. i own many satin finished guitars with no such observations. if you wipe down your instrument each time after play, it shouldn't be a problem; bass or otherwise.

humidity is not a problem. it is the opposite- the problem is dryness.

i went to ochanomizu once in winter. in winter the air becomes dry because it is cold. every guitar shop in tokyo has humidifiers all over the shop to prevent the guitar from drying out and cracking.

that is what the beeswax is for on unfinished basses - to nourish the wood and prevent it from drying out.

natural finished is still finished.
So you don't have to worry.

The manufacturer will not probably not sell you a raw wood guitar
It might look like natural, but most of the time the wood grains are sealed.

What matters is the type of finish used. Not the color or how shiny the finish is.

Sealing finishes like lacquer, polyurethane, etc provide the most protection. Whereas finishes like oil and wax offer less protection. All of these finishes are available in uncolored (natural) tint and satin/matt sheen.

Go get that dream Wick or SG man. Dont let a few neck warpage case scare the hell out of yourself. Who knows, those faulty eqpt is already faulty even at the showroom?

Go see the bass, check the tuning, then hold the bass up and look from the bridge to the headstock. Check to see if neck got banana or not, if got banana, probly shop havent tighten truss rod. If can tighten, and a close-to-straight neck is achieveable without buzz, buy it. And carry out your regular maintenance. No worry.

Btw, the wood are all already klin-dried. Singapore weather is good, you dont see drastic change in weather to warp a neck (unless everyday you bring guita in/out 18C <--->27C). Failure to adjust truss rod is the main cause.

I own 2 warwicks with natural finish. They're about 10 years old each and i've never waxed them before aside from applying lemon oil on the fret boards. The body wood is still fine. don't worry too much about it. Warwicks are really tough basses.

To be honest, I feel that Singapore's weather is BAD for unsealed necks. Why? Cos we have extremely high humidity. True that our climate doesn't shift drastically versus temperate countries. But most people turn on their air cons, and alot of ppl keep their instruments in their bed rooms. I doubt temperature and humidity shifts via air conditioning every day/night vs 1 major shift every year with seasn changes is going to be good. Also, Warwick doesn't have the best reputation as far as neck warping goes either.
