Bass Effetcts : Compatible with guitars?

as the title states.tried to look for the best info online but none really comes close
to what i was looking.the question is will the insertion of a guitar signal into a specified
bass fx into any kind of guitar amplifier,would it disrupt or spoil the whole chain?

are there any specifications that guitar and bass signals cannot be mixed?
are there any requirements such as a specific either gguitar or bass amp?

bass effects are fundamentally, signal processors whic would work with guitars or even keyboards

it's a matter of trying & hearing them in action- do these effects possess what we want for our guitars? majority of them were specifically conceived to serve the bass more than the guitar, but i always believe that if they work, they work, regardless of whatever they are. Fender's Bassman amps have been serving countless guitar players despite the original intention as the name implies...
