hello world.

in the next few months to come, i will be presenting several solo performances around town, primarily to share my developments in alternative music systems and narratives.

a little background:
presently i am conducting a study on alternative music systems, particularly one which reflects and expresses globalized Asia, if not just Singapore. in this study, my interest is in reinterpreting the already present ideas of music and reconstructing them to what i would deem a vocabulary which best represents the social / psychological climate here. my philosophy is that music, ultimately, is a subjective listening experience, comprising of sounds or no-sounds, organized or otherwise, encapsulated in a time frame, relevant to the individual listener. that by subjecting music to categorization is nothing more than a mere attempt at communicating the music made, but that in itself, has no definite value to the actual composition, only an idea.

Narratives At The Concourse, Esplanade

narratives #2 bump

hello world

a bump for narratives #2 happening at Night & Day tonight.

this session features a friend and frequent collaborator Mohamad Riduan. Riduan is an artist, trained as a sculptor, who builds his own instruments. his medium is primarily plastics and found objects.

as always, if you are interested to improvise during the session, you may bring your own instruments, or you could always use what's available there and then. always nice to try a new instrument and go crazy.

a final bump for the narratives series ending it all off.

this third set bridges together materials which initially started it, with things learnt throughout the process.

if you are interested to improvise, bring your instruments or use what's available on the day (guitar / glockenspiel / pianica / woodwinds) and have fun.
