Hey fellas,
Thank you for the prompt and detailed responses. I should have added a few details about our proposed 'project'.
We do not intend to do a full fledged custom shop. This would not be feasible. We want to give our consumers something affordable and yet give them more flexibility in terms of choice. Here's a rough idea of what we intend to do:
1) Body based on 2 types of 'strat' style guitar, pre-painted in various colours. Probably a traditional design and a 'super strat'.
2) Flexible pickup combination
3) Various necks (also based on strat but different back contours or profiles)
From the above, the consumer will have the flexibility to mix and match. And yet, the entire project will be easily assembled by someone handy with a screwdriver and soldering iron. It is intended to be fun, and also provide a guitar of gigging quality. It's not intended to be like a boutique custom shop or a concept like Warmoth.
If you've read this and feel that your responses will differ, I hope you can do the survey again. My bad, I should have posted this before you guys responded. However, all your input will be seriously considered and thank you for taking the time.

Heh.....why not come up with an LP body? I luv LP bodies. Btw, the link seems to be down.........maintenance or something. Will try again later.
I guess if its a fun project kinda thing then probably noone would worry about the future commercial prospects of the thing. Besides if you strap on two EMGs on a lp, wouldn't make too much difference either.
