Are Telecasters heavy?

So i've been eyeing on the craftsman tele at city music well since they are having the sale.
I decided to try it out before buying.
First, i tried the craftsman thinline tele( TL40 ).
That felt just ok but has around $35 difference in price from the normal tele.
Then i tried the normal tele out( TL30 ).
I realise it has a heavy feel and that the guitar is also quite heavy overall for me.
I was wondering if all telecasters are the same.
Is it really that heavy or am i just a weakling (a big possilbity)??

Please help me out as i am a noob/rookie and am really considering the craftsman tele as my first electric guitar.

Dude! it looks like a tele, sounds something like tele, got some twang in it... Lol... but thats in the clean channel... wondering if it will sound muddy in drive...

atually it depends on the wood too..if its ash, its gona be heavy...altho not as much as a les paul..the next is alder den comes the basswood ones which are freaking light..

it's not the guitar type, it's the wood used. it's also not objective to say a certain wood type is heavier than the other, it's the pedigree that counts as well: my Ibanez RG560 (basswood) is heavier than my Gibson LP (mahogany)

try dudelove's lovely lespaul and weight would suddenly be a non-issue :D

hahah playing that standing up for 1hr plus is a real issue man. i'm worried.

what do u mean by pedigree?

the grade/ origin of the wood eg: some basewoods are heavier than others, depending on the parts of the trees which they are cut out from.

same goes for ash- it's a swamp tree, the parts obtained below the water level mark are softer/ lighter when dried for production

thanks guys for sharing your views on the tele and guitar weights...so it is crystal clear, i AM a weakling!! ouh well....i'm buying the tele tomorrow so that means if it still feels heavy for me, i gotta buck up...hehe

go gym and buff up like this guy:

then any guitar will be light as feather to you :D

(oh and will make your guitar look puny at the same time hee!)

great....there's a guy selling a squier bullet special way cheaper than the tele i wanted to buy....now i'm confused...haiya!! so should i buy the 1st hand tele or the used bullet special which is like $60 cheaper? i'm going for this guitars coz i've had problems with knobs being too close to the strings...like common strats for example..

the bullet special is very very freaking light..however, on the downside, imo the guitar sounds kinda dead...it is hardly resonant and sounds kinda hollow...

so you guys really think i should get the tele? like no doubt about it? like its a hands down decision?? i'm really on the ropes with this guys...
