Anywhere to buy Ebow besides Swee Lee

As above, fellow softies. The price I was quoted this evening was 30% higher than the price I was quoted 8 weeks ago, when they were out of stock.

Swee Lee has lost my business on this product, because a price increase is totally uncalled for, in light of the very weak US dollar. If not, do you guys want to organize a mass buy of some sort?

last i heard, it was 180 for the ebow plus at swee lee. I'm very interested in purchasing but alas, no cash at the moment. Maybe you should try ebay first.

Wah cow! You don't get 3 replies within 8 minutes in the bass forum...

Haha anyway the price was 170+ before the increase, but now nearly 225, from what I was quoted just now.

Zullio: Check out The Amazing EBow Basically it's a handheld replacement for finger/pick styles, and holding one over a string will cause the string to vibrate and sustain indefinitely.

trowaclown: so you're planning to use an ebow on the bass? That's interesting! what kind of music do you play?

edit: also maybe you should have asked them for a discount? Don't SL have some sort of 40% discount on certain gear?

Errrr. It stemmed from a need to play ANYTHING on Here Without You by 3 Doors Down. IIRC, I counted 22 bars of nothing at the start of my score sheet, and it's mostly whole notes thereafter.

Since the bass doesn't really provide any rhythmic backbone in the song, I thought I'd use an ebow to emulate some of the strings parts.

hahaha. you could try playing keyboards or a glockenspiel perhaps? also if somehow you wanna sell the ebow do let me know!

dir: Awww man. I'm already psychomotor-ly challenged already! But it sounds good I'll check it out next time I meet my band.

Xypher: Yes you can! I just did. With the slowest (and cheapest) shipping method, it costs SGD$80 less than Swee Lee, thanks to President Bush and the weak US dollar! With the fastest shipping method available, the cheapest I could find will cost around SGD$30 cheaper than Swee Lee.
