anything on Rutes and Brushes

i just sold those wire tap sweeps... the wires can't seem to lock in place or "behave" and sometimes it opens up "too wide" for one's liking...

which's why i sold it... anyways, the regal tips can the brushes be "locked" at one position?

marc... interesting, in terms of construction, i thought the wire tap sweeps were as good as say, the the vic firth steve gadd ones (i checked em out at swee lee)

but the gadd ones were $48 , while the vaters were $25 (!)

gadd ones wires were bent at an angle, this to prevent wire cutting into head etc. but i rather preferred them without bent.

i was so concerned retractable had issues (i have another pair which is a real lemon previously) that i told the lady at ranking about my fears. she actually removed the vater tap sweeps and let me try it to my satisfaction.

when i was convinced that once retracted it would not go back in no matter how i sweep, i bought it. heh

the regular regal tip non-telescopic looks rather enticing...

weelee has wood handle, maple i think. and alum handle retractable.

honestly my next pair of brushes is gonna be non retractable, with the maple handle, i'm sick of retractables the wires get f**ked way to fast.

The problem with buying from weelee music is that they don't have a wide variety of Regal Tip brushes. I remember I bought the last pair of the Classic Retractable brushes from them the other time, which is many months back. Don't know whether they have replenish their stock yet.

In my opionion, the aluminium handle retractable is not worth buying as the handle is quite thin compared to the normal rubber handle.
