Anyone share the same interest as me: to be a film maker?

Does anyone remember Kumar and his Ra-Ra show, he always does the weird back and forth palm rotating thing at end credits...

IMMA CHOP HIS DAMN HANDS OFF AND LET HIM LIVE WITH STUBBS FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE. HE GOES TO HELL, PERIOD!.

Let's not go on with this... OT already. LOL!

I did up a short documentary video when I was studying Mass Comms, lasted only about 4mins of usable footage of fast paced life in Singapore. Cheated a little bit by asking someone else to do the editing for me. Hahaha...

Lecturer took it... criticized it from first second to the last second... and I didn't see my video ever since. LOL! None of my journalism projects or video projects was returned to me.

Actually have lah... one of my scripts which I score 18/20. Titled "After 5"...

of course thos things ive listed will be banned - bad influence

but that was just the main idea bro, i just type out what i think, every bad films need a good ending, means at the end of the movie, there's a good thing to think of rather than those bads start...

i just wanted to buy a decent movie, argh...if only my english pass... i would already laearning ngee ann's FSV....

Nope... not only me, its the entire class no matter what your score is. None of us got our projects back.

What I do know... assuming you shoot a film and submit it to an overseas competition or distribution company, the MDA or NAC can't touch you literally unless you're talking about the political scene here. They cannot stop you from filming.

However, what they can only do is - if the film is not in favour of them, they only can ban the screening of the film in question locally on Singapore's soil. They can't do anything if the film is distributed overseas.

Absolutely. I'm working on a couple of short films now. (No, I mean it, serious!)

Am I the only one who thinks there's any hope to be found in the local film industry?

Actually there isn't, but whatever... I simply choose to believe it can be done. Wish me luck!

Slapshock: if you're really interested, try looking for someone with some experience and work on a short indie project to get the hang of things. Look up Crashout (crashout.com.sg), might be able to find collaborators there. The Substation's Moving Images programme provides a lot of opportunities for amateur indie filmmakers. But if you're serious about this, you probably already know. If you can't find a film project to work on, theatre or photography also make good starting points as the technical concerns overlap - lights/lighting, sound/sound editing, space, movement, composition, etc.

Adrian Pang is actually very good in theatre. Pity he gets crap TV roles
