approximately : SGD 720 ( shipping + taxes + guitar all included) (before discount)

but somehow i feel it lacks sometihng as a strat. havent tried one in person before but its a basswood body .. strats are traditionally alder body... brighter sound. it maybe less bright and maybe abit darker tonally

oh ya... forgot about GST again... no wonder it's more than 600. :?

on the other hand - i found on ishibashi one that's even cheaper! ST37S. Smaller than a std strat.... Lists at Ishibashi for 29,600Yen...

for $500 bucks i think u shld check out the squire special tele at luther .. 490 and a really sweet tele. the black one with special chrome pickguard

that black & chrome tele is a Squier 2004 limited edition 'Black & Chrome' model. in addition to the Tele, the Strat & P-bass version are also available.

heh for me i jus got my electric pack a few months back.. you gotta find the sound you want.. for me i got a yamaha pacifica 112J.. i must say that the guitar is really kickass with a affortable price. And as for my amp.. i got a line 6 spider 2.. it has all builded-in effects, compare to marshall which got lesser. hmm oh well.. it totals up to around 650. aiya depends on what sound u want.. i actually want a les paul.. but it was much more expensive.. i'm aiming for a seagull S6 acoustic nex month. heh.

Hmm

Well it depends on individual's preference I guess. Maybe u shud go down to those shop & try out the guitars before buying it.

Imho, starter kit is good for starter, but if u got that shredderiffic fingers, I'd beckon u to invest in a good guitar for a start :)

i have to defer here- if the guitar works for you, especially your shred finger acrobatics, then stick to it. change only when you feel that a certain aspect of your needs isn't addressed by the current guitar you own. you'd be surprised with the standard/ quality of some starter guitars in the market today.

True True

true.. true.. i mean dey haf up e std of some of e starter kit :) maybe its e most basic setup but as time goes by, u noe wat u need den u can upgrade accordingly.
