Hello ha ... anyone into Jazz/Blues guitar? Any form of Jazz or Blues? Samba? Bossa? Carribean? Cuban? Muddy waters? BB King? Just wondering .... :)

yes. me likes listening to Wes Montgomery. me likes Lisa Ono too (bossa nova?)

but i had not attempt to play jazz or bossa seriously on guitar yet.

hi there...
jazz? well i listen to charlie hunter, john scofield, mike stern, tj kirk, jaco, robben ford (jazz+blues)
blues? bb king, srv, robert cray, johny winter, jimmie vaughan, buddy guy, rory gallagher, chris duarte, jeff back (last 3 more of blues+rock)
samba/latin? listen to lots of antibalas (fela kuti influence) and ozomatli (latin+hiphop)

nvr tried playing jazz or latin, no skill! hehehehhh... blues, well sort of...

I currently have no preferences for Jazz music nor it's artists but I love to listen to freestyle jazz where every member of the band improvises on the spot unprepared for whatever strange reason I have.... :?

hmmm ... Interesting ...

I listen to a variety myself ... not really really into any particular or artists.

I listen to Wes Montgomery (4 on 6 is the best), Joe pass, Kenny burrel, Larry carlton, Pat Martino, Pat metheny, Russel malone, Herb Ellis, Lee Ritenour, mike stern, john scoffield.

Tower of power and yellow Jacket has very good musical arrangement, especially Weather Report ... they are a phenomenon! :D

I like more traditional blues ... Muddy waters, B.B.King, John Lee hooker ... anything older will sound pretty foreign to me. :) I do enjoy listening to Robert Cray and Jeff Beck ... especially when i stay into the night. :)

I've been trying to figure out about chord inversions and substitutions. It's hard ... i concentrate too much on melodic patterns and apreggios ... now i am going back to basics ... striving on tetrachords and triads. :)

Blues Brothers n churck berry. they're awesome. n i guess acdc too cuz their riffs are kinda blueish.

yo, try playing some of Angus' licks with clean sound. some are almost country licks if u don't play em with the right rock attitude! 8O

it's a pity SRV is no longer alive.

Yup ... in fact most rock bands licks sounds kind of blueish ... the pentatonic always gives you a blues sound you cannot escape ... no matter how much rock attitude you wanna put on ... Paul Gilbert and joe sat are excellent blues players ... but of course you can't compare them with the Blues giants whose "feel" are inpeccable. :)

Was at harry's jazz bar esplanade ... heard Paul Ponnudurai playing ... he's fantastic. His sense of rhythm and chordwork is supreb.

i remembered watching him performed at Swing Bar (cuppage) a few times. the place closed down i think! he was using a Godin acoustic. and he slapped and popped on it like a bass too! what i love abt his playing is his arrangement (or re-arrangement!) of songs he played. he might play a Sting song in funk style, or cover a blues song jazz style. and his voice is good too...

but i've not seen him performed in Harry's yet. i imagined being "nicely surprised' with his playing always.

yeap i do play his licks. most of the songs that i jam to are ac/dc's. n i dont really use distortion. i read this interview wit angus young, apparently he doesnt use distortion as well. he said something like, 'if u have too many toys up on stage, u'll just spoil the music.' or something like that.

dude, Sky is crying is not SRV's album.

It's compilation album that was produced after his death. By his brother, if i'm not wrong.
