i'm thinking about getting mine upgraded, but don't know anything.

please share your thoughts!

depends on what u want. if u want long ringing notes, usually its the badass bridge. if u are anal abt your tuning and intonation, usually u'll get those with the supermicro tuning bridge.

btw, i really like the mike dirnt precision

i'm using the stock fender bridge on my aerodyne with graphtech saddles... i asked cherns to help me bring in a hipshot vintage bridge, because it's the only thing that will fit into the bridge cavity of my bass

main thing you wanna look out for is the design. the idea is for the bridge to transfer energy from the strings into the body. if the bridge is flimsy or poorly designed, alot of energy will be lost at the bridge itself, and that will affect your tone and sustain. mass matters less than good design, though it does add weight to the bass body to prevent neck dive.

the best way is also the most expensive way, which is to experiment lah bro

using a hipshot vintage brass bent bridge.
imho its the same as the badass bridge II, just that i wanted it to be matte black instead haha.

=)

using a badass2 bridge too.. mines gold. had it imported
it gives a slightly brighter tone and better sustain
beez helped me fixed it in
haha

My jazz is up with a badass 3. More sustain and articulated notes. Also more SOLID lah. Stock fender bridges just dont make the cut imo.

alright i think i'll get one after my wallet recovers from the damage of having to replace my tuning heads.

i'm not so anal about tuning/intonation; what's the best for tone and sustain? badass?

For strats: Apart from American Fender Trems (due to the side intonation screw design), Fishman Powerbridge Trem (Due to Piezo Saddles) and Trems w Vintage Saddles (which i retain for cosmetic purposes), I change all my strat copies saddles to roller saddles. Faced with lesser out of tune problems when using the trem bars after the switch.

Try Trem King Brdige if you're more adventurous. http://www.tremking.com/

i dont think tremking sells bass trem bridges though...
i know kahler does. but i doubt visa is looking for a trem bridge...

i've seen the badass brides being very angular and sharp saddles.... why is this so?

I thought that this would cause the string to break very easily as the sharp angular edge cuts into the string.

My Bad, didn't realise this was in the Bass category. I followed the thread at the home page. ~~~ Paiseh ~~~

I do have a vintage electric bass that have a less traditional bridge though. It has the Stop Tail carved from Rosewood and a separate Bridge w brass saddles. Still trying to locate its design origin as I need to do some repairs to it.

i dont understand why there isnt more love for the gotohs... the price to performance ratio is awesome

got it from zen.

i had to use my old chrome screws though. the new black ones were too thin for my Mex J.
