Well, yup the Plextortion V1 is very very similar to a crunchbox.
Uses asymetrical clipping though, liken what an SD-1 is to a TS.
A little something about the punchtone, reviewed by our dear
Subversion, by the way, i wish him well on whatever he is dealing
with right now.

Since he didn't made a direct comparison, I'll just add on a little.
In comparison, the CBX's tone control is simply a treb-cut control
same goes for the internal presc, the PT's tone control is actually
a blender between a Hi-pass/Low-pass filter, hopefully that explains
why "the pedal's tone sweep allows me to smoothen proceedings with ease"
The CBX is an opamp distortion driving a pair of led clippers, the LEDs provides the signature crunch of the pedal, people often refer them to sound "Tube-Like" offering softer clipping that the usual sillicon signal diodes that are commonly used.
The PT is 3 FET gains stages mildly cascaded into each other, (I prefer to mildly cascade them so you can actually boost it without generating too much feedback/noise). Definitely less gain that the CBX, but cos of the stacking stages, the saturation is vastly different, i would use the word richer to describe it, but let your ears be the judge.
