Ermx . . . That is a good one

this is something i heard, not sure if it is true. the bassist plays sometimes only, not all the time. is that true? not a huge fan, cause the lyrics r quite a turn of for me. rapping is alright. but should i wanna listen to rap with rock, rage against the machine. anyhow 1 of the first english songs i listened to during my mando pop days were linkin park. very catchy,

I'm a huge fan, partly because they've been the so-called pioneers of mixing rock with DJ stuff, not to mention rapping and hip-hop the least. I manage to go backstage to meet brad and the whole LP gang during their concert here, got a hell load of their autographs.

Well, Incubus & Limp Bizkit should be among the earliest pioneers. But well Linkin Park sound is very unique, tho electronic it may sound, but I love em' to the core.

Howz the backstage feels like? Man I wished I was dere. Argh!! :supz:

Backstage ar? Hmmm.. well they were sitted in a long table and then we get to walk down the aisle to let them autograph the things we brought. One guy brought an LP PRS along la.. hardcore! They're really nice people, no airs about them face-to-face contrary to what some people thjnk here.

Well, its the right of every individual to make personal opinions, but yeah.. this is a thread for fans so it would be more pleasant if less angst is thrown at LP. They produce their own unique sound, so the hip-hop-rock sounds will definitely appeal to some and irritating to others. IMO the hip hop levels are still within acceptable, just can't stand rappers like Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent who either show off their abs (kind of look like an opened durian with 3 pieces each side), or just for no reason at all flaunt hot babes in their music videos.

Well, Mike Shinoda's a natural rapper because he started off young doing hip hop. Well, their story is very much unique. Like us at our 17-19 year old stage, they meet up at Mike's house everyday to write songs and jam. Mike Shinoda is a natural musician (he raps, plays the piano, plays the lead guitar, and he juggles!) who co/wrote most songs. He's latest collaboration with Fort Minor really made the airwaves more lively (IMO) with the track "Believe Me".

Well from the trend i see here, i think it's partly because most of the SOFTies here are into fast shredders and guitar-technique players like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Slash etc. People tend to like a band for their techniques and hate them at the same time for the very same reason. There was another thread on Good Charlotte and Sum41 where people just complained about their style of music, probably because these bands don't fall in favour of SOFTies due to their lack of guitar showmanship. Just a bit of my two-cents worth..

Well, their use of equipment attracts me the most. From their custom PRS with the LP logo, to the stingray basses Phoenix uses, to the Ibanez RGs that both guitarists use and the massive Mesa Boogie Dual Head Rectifiers, not to mention the DJ equipments they use too. Give them a chance, don't just look at how boring Brad plays the guitar. Brad and Phoenix can play really fast, it's just that their songs do not cater for solos. There was this video of Brad shredding, and boy was it an eye-opener. I mean, you just DON'T use a PRS to play chords that Primary 6 students can play (those down-tuned chords that you just have to put one finger to -play the whole chord kind)

wher did u see the video tt has brad shredding?

I won't argue with SOFTies over the band/techniques topic anymore, it's been done to death and no one benefits. But LP is a kinda decent band, although I don't listen to them anymore. Too nu-metalish for me. :(
But respect lah, they make it big for a reason.
