any idea why my distortion sounds like this?

ive tried recording through my sound card
emu1212m

but it doesnt sound right at all
ive tried using 2 different distortion sources
they both sound the same like this

Link is dead. Just remeber - the more cables you have, more noise. Record with a mic when you can, and when you can,t cut the gain like hell as well sa the high's.

Direct line record for electric guitar is never reccomended. Go get a mic (sm57) and just mike up your amp speaker. Easier to adjust and more true to tone.

Your problem desp sounds like your signal going into your PC is too high. Ensure you are using line input not mic input setting. Try with the diff PAD setting on the DI. Also is the DI properly powered (batt or adaptor), your card got no phantom power. I still say plug in a mic better.
