Okay. 22 or 24 frets doesn't really matter right?
It does, but not in the way that you'd think. a 22 fret guitar would have the neck pick up at the 24th fret position, which gives that pickup a big tone because of the harmonic position. Especially useful if you're playing low output pickups. There's a certain clarity and chime in that position that's not possible in a 24 fret guitar. Andy Timmons and Joe Satriani choose to use 22 fret guitars... that would tell you if you really need 24 or not.
If I owned just ONE guitar, it would have to be a SSH configuration with 22 frets. Most likely, I'd search for a fender strat with a swimming pool route, so I can choose to have choices of SSS, HSH, SSH and HH configurations simply by changing the pickguard.
