I'm new to guitar and wants to get a Ibanez guitar. Being a student I don't have so much oney to start with. So I need suggesstions which ibanez guitar to get will be good enough for a first timer.

Also whether it's better to learn acoustics or electric first? Which will be a easier way to play a guitar faster and if i learnt any of the two first, will i have difficulty playing the other one?

Greatly appreciaed. :D

the Ibanez GIO series possess some affordable models for beginners, i'd personally recommend these:

*GAX70
*GSZ120
*GRG121

on the regular Ibanez front, be sure to check out the RG321

refer to the review section for some notes on the above guitars.

if you want to have strong fingers play acoustic that is of cheap value.cause they tend have bad quality.but learning on electric is majorities suggestion.but just stick to electric cause its better for the long run.

Thanks Subversion! I'll go see the reviews for those few guitars you've mention ^^

So Dime you're recommend me to just start with electric and to stick with it?

I'd add the Ibanez GSA60 to the list. I own one and it gave me no problems so far. Very powerful tone, but versatile since it has a humbucker and two singlecoils. In short, it can do soft stuff all the way to extreme metal. I'd also recommend the models Sub mentioned.

But don't limit yourself to Ibanez. Try various guitars from a few brands, because different guitars work for different people.

But I'm so new to guitars. Fender I know they are expensive. ESP look cool but more to guys. Fenandez OMG HIDE BRAND!! lol.. So I think ibanez more suitable for me. One big problem is.. I don't know how to play guitar so if I go buy I also don't know how to test.. lol

Lastly is it a must to have a acoustic guitar even though I want to learn electric?

I'm so sorry asking so many newbie questions.. =/

no need to have acoustic to have electric. what kind of thinking is that? haha
no it's your choice what you want to get first

Well, I started on acoustic because the strings are usually stiffer so it trains your finger and hand strength when you bend strings, and builds your fingertip colluses. Acoustic also allows you to get used to arpeggios and strumming patterns. Then when you start on electric, bending becomes easy.

Electrics also have more troubles, since you'd need at least an amplifier and cable, and perhaps a few effects pedals. But you can slowly build up. Up to you, really. There're pros and cons about starting on either.

Depends what kind of music you will be playing. If you're gonna do shredding or heavy metal soloing, the extra two frets would be useful.

number of frets doesn't matter (for shred type playing or otherwise)- it's what you play: do your ideas necessitate the upper frets playing?

i'd recommended that too.

Nothing wrong with a girl playing an ESP. Your cool points goes very high up in my books even if you are just HOLDING it, heh.

On a serious note, you had another post amonth back in the Buy/Sell thread. You were selling off a Craftsman. Do you still have that guitar? If you do, I would recommend sticking to it for now. No point getting yourself another if you are still learning.

If you don't have it anymore, you might wanna consider stating your budget.

Girl + ESP = woah...

lmao, no guitar is gender biased, it's up to yourself to choose, just make sure you're really sure you wana get that model, and won't regret it for quite a while (until you get enough cash to get a new one, xD)
