Hey guys any affortable strap-locks to intro? using a les paul and I scare that if my strap fall off, haha I gonna cry man.

well, the one i'm using is the planet waves or wadever it's called straplocks. it's durable as i've been using it for 6 months on 3 different guitars @ home or jamming. and it comes with a "pickpocket" which made me stand there wondering for a few seconds :? they shoulda wrote "pick pocket" not pickpocket"

whoops talked too much

I always thought stap-locks look very bulky and out of place so this is what I recommend: there's this plastic piece available at Yamaha Plaza Sing which locks onto your normal strap buttons after you put your strap on with a simple twist. Alternatively try Planet Waves straps with the locking mechanism.

Strongest ones in the world. And only costs a dollar.

My vote goes to Schaller Straploks.

Been using them for years, and they've held my basses tight, even through all the headbanging and jumping.

Just have to check that they're tightened from time to time, cos the straps will compress a little, therefore requiring you to tighten the nut that holds the female end in place.

I've had bad experiences with the schaller... due to the nut loosening and thus, like what RentaBass said, you need to retighten it time and again. Forget, then well, hopefully nothing happen ya?

Dunlop Straploks are my choice nowadays, despite being slightly noisy. Once on, you never have to bother about tightening anything.

I have been using Dunlop strap locks. If I don't remember wrongly, it costs around 20 plus dollars per pair (gold colour one is more ex). I find them reasonably good to use. From time to time, I apply some oil on it to maintain its smoothness.

The only problem I had is that the screws that come with the strap locks are usually slightly bigger than the default drilled hole in the guitar. As I do not
want to drill a bigger hole on my guitar, I use back the default screws that come with the guitar strap button. However, these screw head is usually too big to slip into Dunlop strap button. I work around by filing the screw head until it can fit into the Dunlop strap button.

The $1 locks are good cos your strap is directly next to your guitar. With dunlops and stuff, they are several cm away from it. And that means some leverage, and we learnt in primary school that leverage is power.

Also, no need to use new screws, just use the ones that are already holding your strap pins.

The only disadvantage is that you can't take off your strap, without unscrewing. No problem for me as my nylon strap is compact and I never take it off, just put it in the gig bag together.

I first saw it done with 50cent coins but opted to use arcade tokens as i'm not sure what the matah has to say about me drilling through legal tender.

hub37, thats usually the case for Gibson/Epi straplock holes...

For ibanez, the Dunlop screws are fine...

If any of you end up with screw holes that are too big, or screws that are too small, a simple, effective fix is to put a toothpick into the screw hole, and there you go.

Of course, use better quality toothpicks and be gentle, don't put like 3 toothpicks in or something.

oh I don't know about that coz I don't have an ibanez :)

So far I tried on Epi, Gibson and Cort guitars. All the same prob, but as mentioned, it can be overcome by careful filing.

Oh yeah, forgot, Dimarzio Cliploks. To be, they are THE best, if you can live with the length... which I couldn't. They can't be strapped too high, due to the design, but I need to strap my guitar pretty high. Anyway, good stuff that Dimarzio cliplok, totally quiet, and Vai prances around with that. What more could be said about its reliability? :P

Its screws are a touch too small for ibanez though, need toothpicks.

Thanks for the info...

I cant use the 1 dollar lock. I am using a hardcase, thus if I gonna use that means i gonna screw out everytime I finish jamming or gigging.

How much is the strap lock mention by subversion??

$3 for a pair? Or something... not over $5.

Be careful when putting those on... can be really tight, depending on whats the current strap button, in extreme cases... you might damage your guitar by exterting too much force on the strap button.

As someone mentioned, the Planetwave straplocks, just snap on and go. A bit pricy for abt 40 bucks, but worth it in the long run. The Dunlops screwed up my originaly guitar hole a bit, so I think not very good.

the planetwaves straplocks, will be rubbing on the body of the guitar all the time... might damage some finishes... might not bother much though...

the plastic dunlop straplocks they sell at yamaha combo shop at plaza sing arent very good. they fall off easily.

where can we get the planetwaves straplock? or the dimarzio cliploks?
