The Best Mag Out There Has to be Guitar Techniques. It's a whooping 18-20 bucks depending on newstands out there. It's more lesson orientated, with jazz, rock, blues in just one mag and with a cd. THe cd contains the track they are teaching and the backing tracks too. Plus an intro to all featured lessons. This is the best buy. Not to mention they have a short video lesson too, just started recently, with Steve Lukather , Jennifer Batten and Dominic Miller. But got to warn you beforehand, there are ain't so much reviews abt artist or gears. Just lessons and tips.

I reckon this is the best out there. :)

Yes i second Guitar Techniques. It is a very good guitar magazine.

However, if you're into gear reviews, guitar world.

Like I say more focus on techniques for now but the mag must still have some other appealling factor like artist and gear reviews.

Thanks Kwerty... definitely another reason to check guitar techniques out

What about some others like guitarist?

i personally like uk based magazines.

guitar techniques are good for techniques but have close to nothing on gear.

guitarist has quite a bit on gear and artists and lesser on technique.

total guitar seems to be in the middle of both but i personally dont fancy it.

So for me, its between guitar tech or guitarist, i try not to buy both in the same month unless they contain really good stuff :)

i love "total guitar" as well...
recently have been starting to buy "guitarist"

hope u like it too

Oh boy... I just bought Guitar technique and it was like all the things are very technical... difficulty level abit too high... haha...

May wanna check total guitar out, so how you guys find it? Are the music scores good? Heard this mth issue have greenday wake me up when sept ends, how is it? Accurate?

Man, GT has some easy stuff in to too... its the best thing out there for you to improve your playing.

If you want to read tech reviews, then go to harmony central or forums like SOFT or jemsite to find out. Even better when you can find someone to demo it to you. No need to spend cash on that IMO.

Agreed on that review part cos... the more u see it the more u gas for it...

haha... but then I interested in the Greenday and Good Charlotte tab, more over the artist panel looks enticing... in total guitar

But must see have the cash or not...

When I read thru GT, it is diff from conventional magazine, it have cool licks and stuff to practise and learn. Believe it or not I think I like the classical lesson, haha and classical music make me stop playing the guitar... ironic isn't it.

NewGuy, talking abt guitar mag, china has their own guitar mags too... they're cheap n looks pretty decent... of course no english words inside...

remember to check them out when u're in shanghai

LOL... yeah I will... thanks bro...(but then I have a bit problem with chinese... it knows me... but I know not about it)

For now practising the GT magazine... can't even play one stuff... must practise harder... but I am improving... haha... guess that is good... fingers sore now ... I think must rest liao... resume guitar playing tml... haha

I realised that mag with a cd included cost about 30% more on average. Also the previous month's one is cheaper. Most of the mags that i buy are dependent on the headlines the put on the cover page. Try The Guitarist. I like their articles.

How much does total guitar cost and does it comes with a CD?

Total guitar is around 20-24 or so and yea it comes wiht a cd. Its all lessons though man. But the mag has some good reviews of gear and lessons from artists themselves. And i think it also comes with an artist video lesson someitmes 1 sometimes 2 along with guitar tabs with amp settings.
