Hey guys,
I didn't mod my CS-3 to Ross specs... but rather, improved upon the transparency of the CS-3.
Hmmm... I am not in favour of a dynacomp kind of tone colouring... the dyna is great for jazz and blues but thats where it ends IMO, the CS3 is more versatile in this sense. The dyna is inherently smooth, warm and creamy... and you can't change that.
So Randolf helped restore the bass/treble cut that happens when the CS3 is on and he included a sort of presense mini toggle that brightens up the tone very nicely.. Not as in upping treble from 7 to 9, but in a more subtle way, like a presence knob. That presence thing is meant for acoustic guitars but on electric it sounds nice... livens up the tone a little.
Now my CS-3 when on, makes the tone sound just a touch fuller. Theres no more thinning of tone and if I want more brilliance/presence in my clean tones, flick the switch.
Hmmm.... also... a thing to note... how do you set your CS3 Dric? For 1 thing, don't pump the sustain knob past 12 otherwise you're asking for noise. I have my sustain @ 9oclock, want my comp to just compress slightly and act as a limiter.
