keeley compressor or ehx white/blackfinger
boss tr-2 trem
ehx small stone (phaser)

nfi about auto-wah. never used it before.

What don't you like about the CS3 and DOD?

The Keeley Comp does colour your tone, its good, but whether you will like it is personal.

I got a CS-3 thats been randolfed. More transparancy and less tone sucking when on. ;)

Analogman Mini Bicomp. Considered to be better than the 2 knob keeley compressor. The new Keeley 4 knob compressor is worth taking a look.

Phaser: Red Witch Moon Phaser, Catalinbread Semaphore. EHX Small Stone.

i am currently using a MXR Dyan comp. its great for clean and distortion sounds. the major thing that i like about it is that its quiet. It costs more than a stock CS3 but its worth the extra dollars.Anyway the keely ain't cheap either.

As for phaser i give 2 possibilites. Either the Small Clone or Phase 90.

To Schredcow- What kind of modd is your randolfied CS3- Ross or Dyna comp specs?

Hey guys,
I didn't mod my CS-3 to Ross specs... but rather, improved upon the transparency of the CS-3.

Hmmm... I am not in favour of a dynacomp kind of tone colouring... the dyna is great for jazz and blues but thats where it ends IMO, the CS3 is more versatile in this sense. The dyna is inherently smooth, warm and creamy... and you can't change that.

So Randolf helped restore the bass/treble cut that happens when the CS3 is on and he included a sort of presense mini toggle that brightens up the tone very nicely.. Not as in upping treble from 7 to 9, but in a more subtle way, like a presence knob. That presence thing is meant for acoustic guitars but on electric it sounds nice... livens up the tone a little.

Now my CS-3 when on, makes the tone sound just a touch fuller. Theres no more thinning of tone and if I want more brilliance/presence in my clean tones, flick the switch.

Hmmm.... also... a thing to note... how do you set your CS3 Dric? For 1 thing, don't pump the sustain knob past 12 otherwise you're asking for noise. I have my sustain @ 9oclock, want my comp to just compress slightly and act as a limiter.

So wats the cost for modding a CS3? It might be more worth while to just modd your exisiting piece rather than buy a different one.

Ah.. this one you have to email Randolf. :)

He has lots of mods. He can ross your CS3 i believe. and do more...

But I'll say that , yes, 2nd hand then mod, can be almost the cost of the brand new stock pedal.

how better is it than the keeley?
im confused with the bi comp thing.. a combination of juice and comp?
why needed :?:

the bi comp is combination of the 2 AM modded compressor in one box.

Why is it needed? Coz it offer the guitar player choices.

i got mixed up cuz i was thinking one compressor should be enuff most of the time. hmm.. design wise i prefer keeley but sound wise im not sure because haven tried any AM ones...is it available in SG?

No dealers in SG. Most of them deal direct anyway, unless you live in like Russia. In which they will have a dealer or rep there.

If you go to TGP forums, which is based in US, Barber Tone Press is the most popular comp, followed by Analogman Mini Bicomp (no wait) and Bi-Comprossor(1 yr wait), then the Keeley compressors. But personally I prefer AM stuff. The return of email questions is very good even though I have nt bought anything from him yet. Keeley does take awhile, nt as fast as last time.
