if u have 6-700bucks please dont get a line 6 spider. it is by far the most digital sounding and unnatural amp i've heard. this is my opinion of it. u can always disagree with me.
with that kinda budget u can get a cheap tube amp already. like a blackheart little giant. it takes pedals really well imo. u can also afford a epiphone valve junior. tube amps always > solid state amps.

I agree with dudelove. Go for tube amps. Modern digital amps may have benefits pertaining to digital music recording, so, if you're into recording stuff through a computer, a digital amp such as the Spider may be a better choice. Otherwise, tube amps would be better, as they sound smoother and more natural. Depends on your needs too, such as amount of amplification required or if you're looking for good tone.
I say get what you need. With that kind of budget, of course you can get recommended tube amps like the Epiphone Valve Jr or Blackheart.
If you're looking for something that pumps out massive loudness, of course then we would recommend you amps that powers 30 watts or more.
If you're just looking for something that fits the bedroom , then we would recommend you amps that powers 15 watts and lower.
Do list down some information like :
What kind of music you are playing or what kind of sound you intend to achieve?
Are you going to use pedals?
Are you just looking for a bedroom amp, something small and handy? Or something that you might want to use at studios or gigs?

even a 5 watt tube amp can probably sound louder than a 50watt solid state at full volume.

With ur budget i would strongly suggest a vox AC15CC or a Blackheart Little Giant combo or half stack and get it modded, i have a little giant amp head that was modded by goose and boy it sounds great! Alternatively u can get a Orange Tiny Terror but u can only get the head at with ur budget.....imho solid state amps ain't that bad if u manage to chance upon a good one, for example the roland jazz chorus is one sweet solid state amp, i would also strongly suggest vox valvetronix.

Really meh? i tried a Valbee at full blast before....sounded wimpy next to my friend's solid state 30 w randall.
I think the 6.5" speaker size has to play a part.

the valbee IS wimpy. 5 watts i was refering to the valve junior head or the blackheart little giant head.

The blues junior is a gd suggestion as well, although some people find it's sound boxy due to the small cabinet size, and it needs to have a speaker swap as well.
Haha dudelove, if u think the stock little giant is loud, u shld try a goose modded little giant cause it is WAY LOUDER haha!

If you're getting the amp for practice, seriously there is nothing wrong with getting a spider.
For that kind of cash u can get a spider jam. 20+mins of loop time with unlimited no of layers, jam tracks for u to practice with and lots of distortion styles and effecs to play around. Definitely a useful and valuable practice tool. With solid state amps theres also no maintenance issues like tube changes etc.

u have a point. beginners might not even know how to appreciate the differences.
yeah but there are many other solid states u can get for that price. i love the rolnd cube and i own a vox valvetronix. both fantastic non tube amps
