Orange Rockerverb50 VS Hughes & Kettner Triamp

- here goes. the cleans on the Orange are my taste. but then again most of the world of harmony central would disagree. but i prefereed the cleans on RV for sure. thing is, the hughes has 2!!! clean channels. one voiced like a vox and the other like a fender. id have to say the channel 1B on the triamp rocked my socks off. clear , with a nice 80%Vox like tone. blues is just great on the triamp. the clean channel on the orange is well... orange. fenderrish, thicker and more full. with a touch of orange reverb class, its my perfect clean. where the triamp takes over would definately be the fact that it has 4 more channels more than the RV50. channel 2A and 2B of the triamp is a marshall only better IMO. its so easy to get a tone out of the triamp.(at this point im missing mine dreadfully). you like the new incubus album? this channel is perfect to its tone. a little too much treble on the channel 2A though, but when dialed in, the vintage attack style of a marshall at your fingertips. 2B is similar marshall voiced but more gain at thicker sounding compared to channel 2A. never really used this channel much,. stuck to 2A. channel 3 is where its at for the world of amps. 3A mesa like. nice, ballsy, and toneful, rhythm chunk. but i rarely used it because chanell 3B was the BOMB!!!!!... it has a low end like no other. nothing much to tweak. no need of an EQ just purely amazing. its so bloody toneful with such precision. from deftones to pantera to WHATEVER that needs an in your face kinda sound. the Orange RV50 channel 2 however (which is the lead channel of the amp) is well, heavy with stock tubes. but not massive. till yuou swop the tubes then its massive. totally. the orange does require quite a bit of mods to it if youre looking to go all metal with it. but if youre looking for alternative tone, the orange does a brilliant job. but then again so did the triamp. hmmm... i feel like an ass selling mine now. mid boosted style attack, id say orange rv50 with all mods, triamp for everything else. triamp is THE MOST VERSATILE amp ive ever owned or tried. but the reverb on the orange and the efx loop would eat it... to me so would the clean channel. but the dirty channel on the triamp. superb.

oh and
P.S: the triamp is the HEAVIEST (weight) amp ever.

thanks pedalitis. i've always loved the rockerverb 50. now u've given me another choice to think abt.

The Park the guy posted was a joke. i bet he created a new account just to take a dig at the TS....look my small amps can kill yours! hohoho

Hey Pedal-itis. Don't know if you remember me but i went your house once with nickybutt. the walls of your room (along with your dancing spider) were like vibrating real hard man. anyway crazy tone you have man. really liked your orange cab. extremely well built! :)

Pedalitis:
Thanks for listening to my request.. Just mentioning Incubus and Deftones gave me a rough idea.. Alright.. That gave me a BIG idea on what amp to save my moolah and go for if I'm nuts enough to ruin my neighbour's life..
Always rooted for the Triamp, now I still do!

oooo ragetone, you should really do a review on that ALL in one Line6 ''Bogner'' head of yours bro. got live clips some more, haa...

liquidribs:
yeah bro, i remember you. i truly do regret selling the triamp. haa. but ... gotta finance other stuff....

funktastic:
the triamp was mine. sold it stupidly on the need for the dough...

dudelove:
the RV50 is an awesome amp, but... be prepared to spend more cash on it after youve bought it. cause its very hard to be satisfied with its tone stock.

Way to go, dude!

Hey Pedal Bro, I was browsing thru this thread of yours and must really gives you a thumbs up for reviewing these rather rare amps for us. At least we who dont own them get to know how they sound like, from the local perspective. I got a MESA Studio Caliber 112 combo too, doesnt have the time and space to work that thing out, maybe I will contribute a little bit here too when I move to my new place. A rather old amp though, local voltage, EL84s.

Another point to raise is that do not get your day spoilt by some arrogant chap that is always constantly patrolling this forum. I used to be a victim too. Not a big problem though, cos this chap automatically backed off when he was hit back hard. What a waste - someone with relatively good musical skill, could not at the same time possess a big heart.

Looking forward to more of your review. Cheers mate!

thanks ripper bro. be great to have a review on that Mesa of yours man. where you find a local voltage dude? or did ya mod it to 240V?. i hope to review on the Dual Recto tonight. but i gotta run for a taste of CHAOOOOOSSS!

Its a stock 230v/50hz tranny. My cousin ordered it way back in states with 230v spec, hoping to bring it back to SG one day. The amp came back with me last year.

About the dual recto, is the efx loop a serial or parallel one? thinking of getting boss eq20 in the parallel loop of my studio to get more sound, but worry it dont work on the parallel loop. Advice pls dude.

say has anyone here tried a VHT pittbull 100CL here? or an uberschall? or BOTH? i'm looking at either to run in stereo with my roadster. any advice? :)

i wish i could give you a review on the Bogner Uber.Mine is broken.:(
I'll post the vh4 review on Monday.

sweet rackenstein bro... i look forward to your review man.

i just ran a GE-7 through the EFX loop of the Dual recto and hey sounds perfectly A-Ok... recto's are not easy amps to tweak but once tweaked its a mean machine man... both As I Lay Dying and Story of the Year were using Triple Rects (if im not wrong) to GREAt success...

dudelove:
the triamp needs no second look bro... itll pass with flying colours with the first look ha... both physically and emotionally. ha ha....
