Amp recommendations (GnR/ AC/DC sound)

Need help choosing an amp!

Currently using a vox pathfinder 15r, wishing to upgrade.

I'm hoping to get GnR/ AC/DC sound, so im looking to get an amp which doesnt have any in built effects but takes pedals well and link a crunchbox to it. Preferrably a tube one. Budget of around 300-400

Any recommendations?

Since ur budget is there, i would suggest a AVT Marshall..

Vox Hybrid amps are good too, way better than ur current one. sound is much more rounder and firmer.

Marshall AVT and Valvetronix!

Heard that fender junior tube is a decent amp also, u may give it a try.. cost about 450 new.

your budget wouldn't dictate a comprehensive upgrade (tube amps-wise) unless you tread the used market.

i think you could check city music for pretubes with prices slightly above your budget. could wait for their end of year sale.

the ibanez ValBee is a good utilitarian amp to own but it's still a low wattage amp.

I saw the price tag of it at sweelee during the recent sale though... it's ~1.2K 0.o

Sorry to somewhat hijack... I'm also interested in looking for a new amp..... Something which has nice warm sounding cleans and take pedals well and reverb is a must-have, and budget max $350. 25w-30w perhaps. (No digital amps though)

I'm rather interested in the Toneblaster X 30R... anyone wants to add to the list?

i've been recommending the Ibanez TBX models to players who are in need of a no frills tone, both clean & driven, from an affordable solid state unit. it seems that many who had tried the previous (disct'd) TB version wouldn't even want get close to this amp because they think that it's gonna sound as bland. :roll:

nevertheless, if you can expand your budget to accomodate the Sound Drive SG-612R, please do.

your amp is pretty good already wad . save up more for a nice tube like the laney LC-30 II or something like that

you'll want a old jcm800 2204-ish or jtm 45 sounding amp which you can crank. maybe a epiphone valve junior, doubt an SS will give you those tones.

wouldn't say the Sound Drive will surpass a tube amp performance comprehensively but you'd be surprised with what the SG-612R can do 8)

how about Laney VC15 full tube? Comes with clean and drive volume, FX loop etc. Not sure Swee Lee carries them tho.
