Amp Recommendation

Well the thing is, my dad currently is in a money mood. He'll buy anything you ask him. Usually this lasts for a month and time is running out.

This is VERY RARE. Usually you have to wait for years I think lol.

In normal life, he's a kiasu/kiasi whatever you call it for money. "If its not too warm, do not turn on the fan." "You think the electricity bill free?" His words just LAST NIGHT when I was going to sleep.

My pocket money for school = $2!!!! Actually 4 dollars cos my mom adds another two dollars without him knowing.

This is a rare opportunity for me to kick his money ass and buy me some guitar gear and guitar. He even promised me a strap and Pedal I think.

SO KREWPEDIA, GO EAT PORK FROM THE FILIPINO HIERARCHY OF PORK
I'm not a stupid gay, trying to copy from your "Ambitious" wishlist.
Well guess what, I want a Fender, You want a Schecter, is that copying to you?
And I discussed with my sister after someone offered me a Line 6 Spider III Amp 15 watts for 100$. I'm going to accept it soon. So, Krewpedia, YOU SUCK MUNGCAL. Lol.

lol, were talking about amps here, not guitar so stop chaging the subject gear. why all of a sudden want change amp. you dont even know what you want.

You asked me to read this and I read this.

And I still say stick with your SX and your TGM.

Here's the fact: You don't NEED a new guitar, or a new amp. You just want to use your dad's money. That's all.

I think I could hear a chorus of groans when you mentioned the Line 6 amp. For your information, General view dictates that that is NOT the amp to get.

Dude how old are you.

Turning on things like the fan unnecessarily is really a waste of money.

Now recession period u dont know how lucky you are to have a dad like that.

You want a fender? Is it more of the guitar or the hands playing the guitar.

Ya and youre v brave to post such things against ' filipinos ' and pork.

wah u like this say things sure no need think of improving. wat amp wat amp. simply get then can la. got sound come out then can la. care wat tube amp modelling amp solid state amp la. when skill sucks, wat amp also sucks.

Okay I decided to keep my two guitars. Seriously, you are right Staff Sergeant Mungcal, (Krewpedia) My SX sounds nice when I play Blink 182 songs but sucks when I use my Warlock. I use my Warlock for "BELLZ" and "Iron Man" and it sounded cooler when I used SX for the two songs.

For Amplifier, my dad is now FORCING me to buy one. Cos he says that next time I cannot buy anymore amps unless I'm gonna perform a gig or something. For that being said, I'm gonna buy a Marshall amp not MORE than 15 Watts.

GOODBYE THE END. =D

I'm not against Filipinos actually. Krewpedia's a good friend of mine outside and in school. He LOVES to make fun of my religion saying lame childish stuff like "Muslim terrorist go die la" "malay all like that one, all busted." "Allah, is a dog" and stuff. Really irritates me and it happens almost daily in school. I'm very frustrated over it and its time to go one step into rage and revenge.

About the fan, it is TOO much. When I'm sweating at around 3am, I just turned on the switch to turn on the fan, he quickly wakes up, and says no don't turn on. If cannot sleep don't sleep. Or he will say go take a shower. that would'nt be a problem to take a shower but I tend not to sleep after i shower, I can't. And worst, school was on that day.. this is why my eyebags weigh a ton. I look like a drug addict.

ok here's the deal , both your guitars suck . So daddy is forcing you to buy an amp but i think you're exaggerating it . Show us the proof when you get that line 6 hahaha . Right now , you just need one guitar to play and practice . You have the total wrong idea about what guitars go for what .

I know they suck. Yeah will prove to you when I get it with a photo and stuff. Hmm, I compared them both to punk songs and metal songs and they sounded different for both of them. My SX sounded a bit more nicer than my Warlock in Blink 182 songs. My Warlock soudned better when I played For Whom The Bell Tolls rhythm.

seriously, new guitar players should research and practice for at least a year then start to seek advice here at soft, countless redundant threads are created and that imho kills the exploration part of learning guitar.

the internet is filled with information, of gear and guitars, google is just a click away, but with a great forum like soft, people tend to take things for granted, hint hint

from my personal experience, what i did when i signed up for soft, was to just look around, hearing what experts have to say, and applied it to my learning. it was not until i reached a certain level of understanding gear and guitar that i started mixing around with the various gear dudes, and finally shared my insights and opinions. and this way,it reduces the needs for the pros to answer many stupid questions repeated over the years and years, questions such as pickups, guitars and other crappy stuff we see today.

however, the new trend in new SOFTies is that they tend to take SOFT as a information counter, they ask, they listen, (so far everything is still acceptable) but now, the newbies tend to bite the hand who fed him, shooting back recommendations, and not wanting to make a 45 min bus ride to woodlands ( evohermit) others do not basically have the most basic understanding of gear (fauxhawk) one who tries to cheat me of my guitar and disappears (hyde) and another one who tells half truths, not knowing his stuff and advices newbies when he doesnt know what he's talking about, as zax said, empty vessels make the most noise, you know who im reffering to.

now those people who i point out may argue, well this is the guitar rookie corner, yes, it is, but have they realised the the same questions are asked a million times? sure, this post wont stop the recurrence of these questions which we hate to see, but feel obliged to help the guy get on the right path to guitar success. as much as i wanna help, now i have second thoughts, why?

it is because, new members, from my observation cannot take criticism. you dissuade them from getting sth, they'll still get it, regardless of what advice you give. worse still, you give them advice, they think its shit, create a new thread and say that no one wanna help them, at this point you'll feel bloody irritated, but it gets worse, they'll give you a tone in which it seems the solar system is revolving around them, and they think we are indebted to them, and think that advice is obligatory.

back to the topic. i was a noob like all of you back then, i am self taught, and didnt know much about gear. how did i step up my learning curve? i looked for beez ahha, he's a great guy who taught me the ropes and slowly i learnt more and more, so my advice, go to your guitar tech, get some pointers, go home research more. its a feasible way of learning and in no time you'll be having a rocking great time.

of course, this are just my 2 cents worth, i dont mean to flame, i dont mean to sow discord between users, so those who think im shooting you, no malice intended yea?

thanks for reading. everyone have a rocking great day.
back to learning aces high, dang its hard to play it clean

hey chill man.. i understand where u're coming from.

u know u could always just ignore them.. we dont owe them anything, so its our right to choose whether we want to offer our help or not.

Yeah will prove to you when I get it with a photo and stuff. Hmm, I compared them both to punk songs and metal songs and they sounded different for both of them.

Forget about trying to prove us something. Just start practicing.

As you progress on as a guitarist you will learn certain things:

1) Each type of guitar has its own characteristics; after a while you can see why a les paul is different from a strat or an SG or a telecaster. Your preference would be determined by the songs you play, as you are already discovering now.

2) Different types of wood will have its own characteristics. Alder, mahogany, basswood, ash, maple, rosewood, ebony gives certain characteristics of tone as well.

3) Most people would say that your amp is the most important equipment in the chain. Your amp is basically responsible for 60% of your tone (or more if you go direct). The rest of the percentage goes to guitar, pickups, pedals and cables.

4) Pickups are probably the first modification most guitarists would do. There's a school of thought that basically dismisses the pickups as the least important. I personally disagree. While it is not AS important as an amp, pickups represents the first gear of the chain: it picks up the sound of your strings. If your pickups is capturing the wrong frequencies, you will find it harder to achieve a good tone characteristic, especially when playing clean, with all your pedals disengaged.

HOWEVER, because it is the most common mod to do, a lot people change pickups just for the sake of changing pickups. Which is a wrong mindset to have.

5) With all these in mind, you will slowly come to understand that a good guitar tone is an equation: your fingers X (amp+guitar+pickup+pedals+cables) . Pay attention to the first element in the equation. Your gear basically serves to amply that.

If your fingers are good ie you're an excellent and skilled player, your gear will only amplify how good you are, no matter how crappy they can sound.

The opposite is also true. If you put someone who plays like crap as a salesman for custom guitars, high end full stacks and boutique pedals, would you buy them?
