hi.. im looking for an amp (ss/tube) that can really take pedals well.. i have not tried many amps but personally had a laney HCM30 which sounded like crap to me. I have a budget of about 400 dollars.. any recommendations??
I playing blues rock, 70's 80's hard rock. i want that paul gilbert searing lead tone.. therefore. im searching for an amp to run my crunchbox and other pedals in..
If ur looking for an amp tat has good clean tones, I suggest u get a Fender Frontman 25R amp n change the stock speaker. I changed mine to an Eminence Legend n the sound is compact n sweet, thick sounding. It did make my amp a bit heavier due to the bigger magnet on the Eminence speaker. It will still be below ur budget after buying the amp n speaker plus installation... It handled my dist pedals well.
I`m glad I got this instead of getting a Vox AC15CC1. I tried tat vox amp but wasn't impressed at all. I decided to keep the Frontman n upgrade the speaker n it was well worth it.
Then again, who plays 70s-80s hard rock with a Fender amp?!
But thats my preference with this amp..think u have to experiment with different amps till u find the one that speaks to u
Paul Gilbert moves to Marshall and he will be at Marshall booth in this NAMM.
Back to topic, how about Fender Super Champ XD, all tube, two channels 15W with decent over drive and clean? Might not be suitable for whatever core Metal but you can use pedal to stack the gains. Price should be around 450-500 S$.
