Amp questioning.

Hey all i wanna get a new amp right after O's.

Dont really know what to get though..

Do different amps have different specifications for the type of music they're "made" for?

My music genre is metal/Hard rock etc.. rarely blues..

A friend of mine once told me that Vox amp's arent really effective for playing metal so that diminished my plan of getting a Vox AD30XL..

Im wondering, are different amps "made" for different genres?

I have a close friend who uses Peavey.. and another using fender amps..

Please let me know ur suggestions to my question and also recommend me an amp? :) :)

:D

Considering..

Line 6 Spider Jam 75W 1x 12

What kind of amp are you looking for? Tube or Solid State Amps? Wattage?.

For solid state, you can try:
Ibanez TBX30R
Marshall MG15 Mini Stack

Roland Cube 30X

For tubes, you can try:
Ibanez Valbee
Fender Champion 600
Epiphone Valve Junior

Read up on reviews by Subversion:

Hope this helps! All the best! :)

WHAT VOXs amps your friend may be sadly tonedeaf :)
jsut get something reasonable with a overdrive or distortion pedal if your not too serious about it :)

it all comes down to what tone u are looking for...metal got many different tones.. wet/dry/mids/bassy blah blah blah..

u just started? or quite long already? whats your budget? spider jam very expensive..
metal players can try marshall avt50 or any JCM series.. roland cube 60 is very powerful and the built-in rectifier is very nice too.. it gives u the kick-in-the-chest feeling..

the reason to y vox not suitable for metal players is because they are too wet.. thats y people prefer amps that have the dry british crunch.. like laney marshall orange for heavier tones..
i just sold my vox cuz its too wet for me.. using a laney and i love it..

wet amp?

wet is seldom used for amp description. More for reverb, delay or any form of effect where you mixed the original unprocessed signal with the processed signal. The percentage of the processed signal in relative to the unprocess signal that is.

What i meant was.. Heads like : Tiny Terror..

Budget abt 600? lol. unless really see one i like/suitable qualities then i may top up a little more but for now its abt there :)

Erm..Using distortion from pedals.

Pedals : Boss metal zone MT-2, MXR DD-11 Dime Distortion, MXR Eddie Van Halen Flanger, Line 6 Echo Park, Vox 847 Wah Wah, Boss Noise Suppressor 2 NS-2, Boss Tremolo Effect TR-2 ( modded to stop volume drop ), Boss CH-1 Super Chorus and Visual Sound R66 compressor/equaliser. :D

Where can the cube 60 be found btw.

Get an Orange Tiny Terror. Should be worth the money. Very loud for something small or should I say tiny?. Yamaha Music at Plaza Sing has them.

For the Roland Cube 60, Swee Lee has them. I'm not sure which branch but it's stated on the website. Call them up if you're interested and want to find out more. :)

the roland cube 60 is available at sweelee.. around 600 plus i think..
the built-in rectifier is the best kick-in-the-chest distortion i heard.. really damn power..but u got so many pedals already.. i think u shouldn't get the cube.. i recommend marshall avt50 at davis.. around 500-600..

If i were to buy from HaMaYa would their price be considered overcharged if i were to ship in a Tiny Terror with free international shipping :)

Lol just bought wall mounts from davis today..

AVT50? or AVT50 XL advanced?
