amp produces very sharp pitch sound

i have some problem with my distortion pedal. when i go to jam, as i stepped on the pedal,(together with amp distortion) it often produces a very sharp pitch sound and its terrible. this has caused me not to turn the distortion to max. any causes?

I think is too much gain as well, therefore will cause feedback from the amp.
Is your gain both at full? amp and pedal?
Normally we will use one pedal to boost another pedal instead of both gain level turning to the max.

why do you need to use a distortion pedal when u already have ur amp distortion on?! and its on max too..

dude, play clean and then press the pedal for distortion...
i maybe wrong to misinterpret...but i usually play with clean then to distortion...that kinda thing

if u liek the amp's disortion, and if its a tube unit.. well, u can use ur distortion pedal as a booster instead and turn up the volume of the pedal all the way up and the drive all the way down...

btw, what distortion pedal are u using?

AND to clarify, where is the high pitch sound coming from exactly? the amp? or the PA system?

that high pitch noise.. isnt it feedback or something? like your guitar too near ur amp or liddat? i'm just shooting here..

that means ur high pitch sound is most prob coming from the PA system... next time u go there pls check hor...

turn off all the mics in the studio.. usually 2... then do that same setting again... if the high pitch sound (most probably feedback) occurs ONLY when u stand near ur amp's cabinet... then its from the map...

if not, continue and turn on the mics.. if the high pitch sound starts after u turned on ur mics... its from the PA system... it occurs cuz ur mic is most probably facing the PA speakers or ur amp's cab... try to lower the high and mid frequencies on the mixer for the mic and let the mics face a different direction see if it works... still cannot, then no choice gotta lower amp volume...

if however, it is feedback through ur guitar amp... well.. rejoice... haha cuz its very interesting to play with it... this usually occurs easily when ur signal goes through 2 or more drive units... u can walk far away from ur amp to stop it and closer to get the feedback... try facing different positions too cuz it affects this... if the feedback produced is some irritating shrill sound, try setting ur EQ and cut highs and mids a lil

hey are you using single coil??set the amp dist channel or the pedal to slight dirt
you cannnot set both to max ...else i`ll be muddy and noisy..

i had too much gain last jam that it picked up local chinese radio channel

talk abt instant sampling ....

but the it did scare the crap out of me when i first heard it coz it was those high pitched lady vox ....
