ok im planning on getting a pod hd 500 , but i read from somewhere that running your pod through an amp is playing the amp modeling on amp modeling, my main rig now is a marshal mg 15 solid state amp. so what should i do to prevent this, i just want the sounds from the pod and i just want my amp to act as a cab.

what is the best solution now?

One way is to plug ur Pod into the CD/MP3 in if your amp has it.

Another Better way is to invest in a decent pair of studio monitors, I have the Kurzweil KS-40A which is retailing at city music for like $100+, super cheap for a pair of monitors.

Did you buy the pod for the amp modelling?

i believe the mg15 has CD/MP3 Jack in, you can use that instead of the main input.

and $100 can't get you decent studio monitors.
but for the $100, those monitors are decent enough.

yes it does have a mp3 jack ,THANKS ALOT GUYS! :D

and another question , if all the signals are coming out of the pod , will buying an amp with higher wattage make a difference ?

i dont do gigs , its just for bedroom practice and recording

No point getting an amplifier to monitor the sounds from the pod, unless you want to go pod -> power amp -> cab, but that's another thing altogether. As I've said before, studio monitors are your best bet, other better brands include KRK, ADAM, Mackie. The advantage of using a pair of monitors is that you get to monitor your sound in stereo, also you can play around with the panning of the dual tones etc.

haha, shit that sounds like what I said. You may want to sell the MG15 and buy the Kurzweil monitors, it's only $100!

hehe my mg 15 is not in selling condition, amp crackles and goes mute if i turn the equalizer EQ knobs to a certain degree.

could you guys explain why a pair of studio monitors would be the best option right now? what are the difference if i plug my pod straight into the mp3 jack of my mg 15 compared to running it through studio monitors? im really noob at this and im on a budget you see

Well there's nothing wrong with plugging your pod into the amp, I've done that for years. The thing about running the pod through the amp is that the preamp of the amp will actually color the tone from the pod further, and most of time you will notice that your pod will sound WAY better with headphones as compared to hearing it from your amp.

Studio monitors are normally made to produce sound from a source without or at least minimal colouring of the tone, so there's no additional high end/low end etc.

Its definitely fine if you wanna use the POD with your current MG15, its just that I feel its no use to upgrade the amp if you're going to use the pod for all your sound. You're just gonna waste all the features of the amp, and that is money wasted. Thus if you ever intend to upgrade, I rather you get a pair of monitors or something, hence the recommendation of it.

hmm but i thought plugging it into the mp3 jack would not allow the preamp to colour over it, its just straight to the speakers
