Eric started his journey with the violin when he was 6 at a music school and subsequently came under the tutelage of Ms Yah Wan Har. He would have obtained both ABRSM and Trinity Grade 8 by the age of 12.
Eric then joined Dunman Secondary's String Ensemble where he was given the chance to tutor students with and without experience in the the art of violin and developed a passion for teaching there. His contributions enabled Dunman Secondary to obtain a Gold for the SYF in 2012.
It was at the age of 14 where he made a Youtube account showcasing pop pieces played on violin (http://youtube.com/erictanofficial).
He was appointed student conductor of the ensemble.
At the age of 14, Eric achieved a Distinction as an Associate of the Trinity College of London (ATCL).
At the age of 16, Eric became a Licentiate of the Trinity College of London (LTCL), attaining his second diploma in violin performance.
After which, Eric joined Temasek Junior College's String Ensemble in 2015 where the ensemble attained a Distinction in the SYF, where Eric was appointed as the Concertmaster of the ensemble.
After which, he was also assigned to be the section leader of violin 1 where he had to conduct sectionals and personal tutoring, and was appointed the role of Chairperson of Temasek Junior College's String Ensemble.
He has performed for various occasions, from performing for various school events to sharing the stage with ThePianoGuys during their show in Singapore to playing with the Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra.
Taught under the Suzuki method, Eric will focus on helping his students enjoy the process of learning the violin despite it being one of the most difficult instruments to master. He will also focus on building firm foundations and techniques for his students on the violin.
Fees will be dependent on the level of difficulty of pieces (First lesson will be considered free if unsatisfactory):
Grades 1-2: $40 per hour
Grades 3-5: $50 per hour
Grades 6-8: $60 per hour
ATCL/ARSM: $80 per hour
Pop pieces: $40 per hour
