hi guys,
need some honest tips here.
am intending to change out my pickups frm my CIJ ST 72 strat.
thought of goin for vintage sounding pups, but however, the body isnt alder nor swamp ash.. =(
its basswood!
from wad i understand, basswood is a very natural sounding wood.
and my strat sounds abit thin.
have decided to juice it up abit.
intending to go for an overwound type of sound.
but, im at a loss for pickup selection.
am lookin at lace sensor hot golds.
but im not sure.. and cant decide..
does anybody have any suggestions or experiences with this situation?
thanks!
cheers ppl!

Suhr V60 for more meat!!
"...the fralins are brighter than the suhrs. I much prefer the suhr v60lps myself. They are not that fat sounding compared to some single coils, but are a bit beefier than stock fender vintage types. I think they are smoother in the highs when overdriven, and are nice and balanced. The v60lps also still sound like a strat, plenty of chime and a little 'hollowness' that single coils provide in contrast to buckers. The fralin blues are similar in output but have a pretty hard high end that makes overdrive sounds a bit buzzy.
I think you will find a good balance with the v60lp pickups, and you can also get a baseplate added to the bridge pickup from suhr as well."

"...rich greasy tone when you dig in a little, sparkly clean, great clarity."

Check these out as well....

Basswood is warm and meaty already. If you were to get a vintage sounding pup, then I'd suggest you stay away from the grey bottomed ones. Those would be a bit too warm, and not enough highs. The CS54 set should be nice for you... If you want something meatier, then the Fender Vintage Noiseless pups should be nice.

What you want is something with less mids, and more highs. The CS69s would have less mids, and wouldn't be a nice match. I'd say 54s, or Fat 50s...

Or Fralin Vintage Hots.

Do note the ones you purchased is standard or +-2%-5% windings. All will have a different tone
