Advice on holding an audition

lacrymosa

New member
Hi all,

As mentioned in the title,

1) How should one hold an audition to recruit a new member?
2) From booking the studio to successfully recruiting an ideal member.. I mean how's the process like?
3) "Interview then straight do audition" or "interview then filter then do audition to those who make it through the interviews"
4) Who should be involved in the decision-making process?

I absolutely have no idea.. Any tips/advices? You don't have to answer my questions(^). I just need to know how to hold an audition, is all.

(Audition 101) Thanks!

I've done this. It's pretty simple. Just get as many interested parties as possible. Keep in mind that they will all not be free on the same date, therefore, your audition is most likely to span over 3 weeks or so.

Example:
- Auditioning for a vocalist
- Week 1; 2 vocalists are available. Get them down and jam with you guys, do away with interviews just jam and you see how it goes from there.
- Evaluate with the whole band and decide if either of the 2 is good enough, if not wait for next week.

- Week 2; start the whole process again.

- By the third week, you can pretty much pick which vocalist you want.
- Just tell every single vocalist that it's just an audition and he/she is not a confirmed member yet.
