Hi avid keyboardists out there,

if I were to have a Korg M50 and a Roland Juno d at home, any recommendations on

what amps/speakers/monitor to buy? Any diff? Just want to practice at home and not for jamming purposes.

what are the considerations of having 2 keyboards and wanting to hear them at the same time? Do I need a mixer?

Where would be a good and cheap place to buy the equipment recommended?

Budget estimated to be $400 and below

Thank you kind souls out there!

Once you guys reply, I am gonna post the recommendations on the WTB section!

hi freddy_lau

Do you have a home theatre system? You can plug in your keyboard and listen if you like the sound.

You dont have to get those Keyboard Amp. Those are usually for jamming purpose and do not sound as good.

You can get a small Alesis mixer about $200. The reason why I recommend 8 channels is so that you can grow your set up. Currently you have 2 keyboards, that will take up 4 channels already. For the remaining 4 channels, you can add on a MP3/CD player for playback and 1 microphone for vocals and 1 channel for plugging in a guitar.

Yes I agree. Don't get amps. You trade definition for loudness, which is exactly the opposite of what you want in a home setup.

Get monitor speakers and a small mixer (as suggested by James).

Any monitors to recommend?

Thanks guys for the reply.

My home theatre system is in the hall so probably got to get something else.

Any monitors (brand and model) to recommend? Budget below 400.

Should suffice your needs. Price slightly steep. A new pair cost about 200USD. Depends on how long the person has used it and what kind of environment.

You may want to check out other brands - nEAR, M-audio (low cost but not too good - should be sufficient for most uses) etc.
