harlows all guitarists!!
i have something ask regarding squier guitars.. are they a cheaper version of fender or what? i don't really know much about them.. and as i read from here, it doesn't seem to be that well-liked? much information provided will be appreciated!! thanks.. can tell me the price of what the guitars also can..

another thing is, what's the diff between strato, tele and others? meant for diff genre?
thanks!

squiers are the lower market version of fenders. like epiphone to Gibson. they have lower build quality and electronics BUT they sure sound good for the beginner. or even the intermediate. the only thing about squiers i dislike is the flexy neck it has. shows that the wood is of cheaper quality.

my brother plays a squier affinty strat (the lowest end) and all he has to do is change the pickups to dimarzios to get a biger output and better sound.

my affinity pbass just has that flexy neck.

other than that they're great to use and play with. no qualms for the intermediate like me.

it's not right to say that the diff models (strat, tele) only has use in one genre. strat users are Eric Clapton (blues/R n B), Yngwie Malmsteen (heck of a guitar shredder!).

but there are some tonal differences between those 2 guitars. the strat sounds more 'bluesy' while the tele sounds more 'country-like'. dry and crisp.

it's a matter of which styling u prefer as a guitar defines your image.

most important factor to decide on is the sound it produces.

thanks! that sure help! cos i was just reading.. sounds like epiphone compared to gibson too!!

thanks for the quick reply!

Hi there 8) i just have a diff opinion on the Squier brand name. although it's licensed to replicate the Fender offerings, the similarities end in looks only, feel & tone aren't representative of the real thing. my idea of an entry level Fender are the mex & jap models. however, the recent revamp to this brand name made the Squiers worthy competitors in the entry-level category. they are simply good per se, the Fender association to me is a bonus...

i did a review on the Squier fat strat recently, hope this gives you an overview of what's available out there. cheers!
