Dear Friends

Together with the Sound Channel (www.thesoundchannel.com.sg) we'll be launching LUGS or Live User Group Singapore- exclusively for live users. The objective of this forum will be to:

1. Get acquainted/make friends with other live users
2. Knowledge sharing through work shops, events
3. Organize and Participate in LUGS sponsored Gigs
4. More and finally
5. Have fun.

We'd like to keep this closed initially, meaning only for Live users so we can get some focus towards the objectives and lay out a charter for the UG. We are working on getting some endorsement from Ableton and eventually we'll have our own web site. we'll be modelling this on the NY UG- which is the most active UG for live.

What i need is the contacts of all Live users in singapore interested in joining and making LUGS work. Please PM me with name and email addy or sms the details to 91556517

thanks

could you further explain abit what this is about?

I co-own a POD UX 1 which came with the Ableton Live Lite 7, what does LUGS do for me?

Lugs

The concept of LUGS is basically a networking forum for Live users in Singapore. The intent (not limited to) is to:

1. exchange ideas, knowledge, practices, set up- everyone uses live in a different way: as a scratch pad, DJing, conventional DAW set up, trigger other VJ programs, rewire to other DAWs, as a sampler, program beats e.t.c There is no secret recipe, you ask the same question but get diferent answers. This is the strength of Live.

2. Bring Live users 'outside' of their studios and strive to push the envelope technologically. Prove that a piece of computer software can be a musical instrument in its own right!

3. Live use- Discuss using 'Live' Live

4. Organize music, remix contests, live shows, parties

5. Discuss hardware, midi tools- the recent months has seen a plethora of live dedicated hardware being released. once M4L is released Live will go to another unimaginable level

6. Once Ableton endorses, we'll have speakers from Berlin HQ come over for demos

the list goes on and on and on.....

If you are a licensed live user, its your main or secondary DAW, you are into electronic music, you want to develop your skills as a musician, you are passionate, you should join in. Its free except in that depending on the number of members, and the venue, each member will have to pay $1-$2 for the studio/space rentals. I'll run the first few forums at my cost but once it picks up we'll need to get into a more 'professional' venue. Members of course bring their own laptops, midi controllers, interfaces. We'll rent the mixer and speakers/PA unless any of the members have a set they can bring.

Its basically open ended, no strings attached

I'm using Live 6 for practising stuff, but i'm not good. Love the idea though.
Count me in.. :)

Sounds like a great idea. Count me in!

I've got Live, but though I see the great potential in that piece of software as a DAW, it is sadly abit too complicated for me to use effectively.

I sent you my contacts =)

hmm i believe LUGS has been already used for Linux User Group Singapore :x

I realized that. Whats in a name anyway. Its the purpose that counts!

Once the members meet up we'll probably change to either
ALUGS or SLUG, though SLUG currently operates as Seattle Live Group.

Alugs

We're calling it ALUGS to confirm with the worldwide naming convention. We've got support from Berlin and NY groups- the ideal model.

Endorsement from Ableton is awaited. We've got 5 sign ups so far and I'm looking at around 8-10, to keep things manageable.

Ableton Live users out here, please dont miss out on this.

I hope to make it but have only recently arrived in Singapore. Back home I felt a strange sense of duty to show people ableton so it will great to meet some like minded people.

Have sent you a pm on the ableton forums confirming the same. Hope to have sorted out a mobile phone by saturday.

Cheers

Dear members of LUGS and anyone else who uses Ableton. My name's Kamal Bensra. I'm a musician and would like to get in touch with a user of Ableton for my present project. My aim is to use live instruments over Ableton, n perform live.

this thread looks dead. haha

Anyone still using ableton? Got using live 8 about a month ago to make some house tracks and it is awesome.

Looking to get a launchpad or a padkontrol for this.

everything is contained within the 64 grid.

To cue track, it will be using a sorta first page of the 64 grid arraangement.. To change paramters, trigger loops or playing finger drums along the clip thats being play back, there will be buttons on the launchpad to "call" up another layer of the 64 grid pattern and adjust from there.

Check out this video, it has detaills on using the various mode of the launchpad.
