hahaha, same here. But i found if you put pillow over the speakers, you could crank it slightly more. I'm not sure if this hurts the cones; I'm hoping the pillow absorbs SOME of the sound, but it sure feels good turning that beast up abit more. Give it a shot!

cool leds 8) i am thinking of using a touch senser, so which fret u touch, it will light ups, image what will happens if u shreds

lyn : you mean stuff pillows into the back?

btw the led thing - is it possible? touch sensitive leds?... it would look orgasmic

ChanMin: Nope, just cover it in front. Your average sized sleeping pillow would nicely cover the length pf the 2x12 speakers. It will sound a bit muffled, but hell, the sweetness is there. Haha. But if you do want it to be softer, i guess you could wedge it between the wall and the combo. So long as it could absorb the vibrations and soften it a bit. Blankets might work too. Still experimenting...

Chronicles: Touch-sensor LEDs? Where in SG?

erm... but ... it sounds so muffled man .. haha... i think i rea some where u can put a volume pedal in the efx loop. and it can lower the overall volume.

ok just tried the volume pedal thing... it frigging works man ..screw the pillows lyn!!

i cranked my amp to 6 and played... power!! then i just adjust volume to bed room level and play... it sounds way better then if i played it at 1-2 ... same volume.. but tone is much better. the inherent hiss of the lead channel is also greatly improved. its more smooth when u turn the post up.

Haha, yea man, it works! But i'm still having some trouble setting it up with the whole fx loop thing (noob at this). AND i'm using the volume pedal on a PODxt Live. So yea, abit more confusing. BUT STILL! getting closer to that sweet sweet sweet tone :D:D:D

(The guys at the petrucciforum were saying that by doing this, we are only controling the volume of the preamp BEFORE it gets sent to the poweramp section. Its much different from using an attenuator where the WHOLE signal is pushed harder. So yea, MAYBE i should look into that. But our 5150 combos don't have a jack that connects the speaker cable to the preamp, so i guess im gonna have to cut her open)

i actually saw this guy who cut his 5150 combo into a 60watt head and 2x12 cab.
you can then use it with a 1x12 for lower volume or even use it with a 4x12 for total pwnage.

i was hell bent on doing this to my amp... until school had to start ...
