Hi guys, need some help here. Is it possible to have a 22/24 fret neck on a 21fret guitar? someone actually ask before, having a 21/22 neck on a 24 body and intonation is the problem. will this be the problem also? can it be solve with a proper setup?

and what should i look out for if i want to change the neck?

Thanks :D

22 fret neck can work.. usually the fingerboard will overhang a little for the 22nd fret. You shouldn't have to do anything else.

24 frets, you prob have to shift your neck pup positions (how? route loh) amongst other gruesome drilling things - NOT recommended.

Anyway, its usually tough to do it lah.

thanks daniel =D so there wont have any playability/tone issue if i change to 22 frets other then it being overhang? only the shop opp. gutiar77 sells neck?

hah yea, the whole guitar doesnt get longer when changing to a neck with more frets. intonation problems and all that might occur depending on the scale of your neck though. and yea, routing will be real tedious. and if you have a middle pickup, and move the neck pickup closer, then you'd find that your neck pickup is nearer to middle than the bridge pickup. ofcourse technically theres nothing wrong with that.

Guitar workshop... to the left of sweelee, all the way to the back...

Chances are that the 23rd and 24th fret will be a real bitch to access and play.
Cost incurred for routing, set up, etc = high.

Save the dough you'd be spending for this mod, and buy a 24 fretter instead.

Forget about Guitar Workshop. For full details read my PRS incident 8) I would go to Guitar Connection (checked out their work on pickup routing - my friend had a Gibson melody maker which he routed for a neck pup $200++ or so *price inclusive of SD 59' pup) it's quite quality work.

Righteous Fury here I see.

Hehe.

There's only 1 "tech" who hasn't gotten any flak or bad rap. Uh huh. Yes. 8)

Those that are plausible but you won't know till you fix it. :P For example, the screws have to be the same, the alignment has to be the same, the neck tuners have to be aligned properly with the bridge, the neck tongue might be a bit longer or shorter.... you get the drift.

Of course, if you can try the neck before buying, by all means.
