Hi im tryin to do some recordings of myself drumming (hehe) and i wan to achieve just a average sound and video quality at minimal cost.
I just read the DIY recording faq and the fp10 and the mics can cost quite a bomb, so is dere any cheaper methods for this?
Thx in advance. :)

what's your budget like? can do single mic, two-mic, or 4 or more mic setup, but again it depends on budget.

the cheapest and best way for low budget is the tri-miking technique. a kick mic (recommend AKG D112 for this), and 2 overheads/ambient mics (Rode NT5s for overheads, or AKG 414s for the ambient mics). should turn out good.

cheapest way is to borrow/rent a pair of large diaphgram mic, 2x mic stand, a simple mixer and a recording device. Try & error, the more u do, the more u will discover.
Placement is important.

cheapest way is to beg, borrow or steal... some sm57 then u r done.... the rest can u leave it to the trigger to do the job

actually the cheapest way would still be watching out for students studying for audio diploma to do their project. then free recording.. not only for drums

Hi Ceing

It really depends on your budget. Rough estimate, 1 mic = $100. If you do close micing, you need at least 8 microphones. You need a mixer to sum up the signal or an audio interface to record it into the computer.

I shot some drums stuff with just 1 microphone. It depends very much on where I place the microphone cos I will be the live 'mixer'.
