Playback trouble with Reaper

Hi softies,

I'm new to recording and i've recently purchased Reaper to play around with my new Zoom G3

So far everything is fine, i tried recording some tone tests and just the guitar and nothing else and it works fine.

Just tried recording playing to a backing track and here's where the problem come in.

After recording, i tried playing back to hear the recording and could only hear the my guitar parts with no backing track. However during the breaks when i wasn't playing anything the backing track comes in.

Help would be much appreciated

Hi templar03,

Are you recording your guitar over the same track as your backing track? Your description of the problem seems to suggest that.

When you record your guitar you need to create a new track, separate from the backing track. The end result is that you have two "rows" of audio on the workspace.

What I think you're experiencing is that your newly recorded guitar parts are overriding the parts of the backing track that are "below" it.
