Local pop-funk fusion band RABCDE (pronounced “rhapsody”), has made their debut with their very first song “Would U”. “Would U” and its accompanying official music video are both released on the 21 January 2019 on iTunes, Spotify and all digital platforms.

As the band’s first digital release, ‘Would U’ is inspired by the retro pop-funk style adding a hint of contemporary pop into their very own style. With a sprinkle of their own quirks and stylistic preferences, they strive to have a sound unique to themselves.

Would U is a song about self-belief, and about throwing every ounce of doubt out the window. Being a University band meant that they had to juggle the needs of our studies along with their need for music. The band was going through a particularly difficult period of time which brought them to the studio and eventually motivated them to write this song “Would U” which was conceived out of necessity, but nurtured by the love, care, and time of the band members.

RABCDE was crowned the winner of Stärker Music Jams 2017 earning them a fully sponsored Music Video and single recording, residency programme with Stärker Music and also a one-year management deal with Cross Ratio Entertainment. Stärker Music Jams 2017, presented by Stärker Music in collaboration with Cross Ratio Entertainment, is an initiative to offer an accessible platform for local emerging music makers to be discovered.

At the Stärker Music Carnival, the band also shared the stage with notable artists like Disco Hue, Jasmine Sokko and Taiwanese Diva A-Lin.

The single ‘Would U’ is produced by Shorya Sharma who have worked with established local acts such as ShiGGa Shay, Gentle Bones, Narelle Kheng, Benjamin Kheng, Tabitha Nauser and many more. The accompanying music video was directed and produced by Jean Seizure who also directed and produced music videos for other notable local acts in Singapore.

“It is a song that understands the troubles and insecurities that you face now, but it also encourages you not to give up and to press on.”

RABCDE comprises of 6 members: Kevin Wijono, Timothy Long, Nicole Pua, Mario Yeremia, Avery Kit and Lee Jia Kang. Passion brought the 6 members together from school and they decided to form RABCDE. They love all things original – from writing originals of their own to mashing up hit tracks and old gold. They sure are a bunch who’re excited to bring their own renditions of everyone’s favorite earworms.

Just within a year, RABCDE has played in numerous school-wide events in Singapore Management University, such as its annual concert series, Starry Nite.
