A bit of write-ups

Indonesian Arts Festival (IAF) was pioneered on late 2002, by a dozen Indonesian students from NTU and NUS, Singapore. Their initial plan was to organise an arts event for the Indonesian students from NUS and NTU campuses to get together. No one really predicts or even expect the show would grow into the level that the show is on now. With the enormous support from the Indonesian communities, Indonesian Embassy and the sponsors, IAF has grown into --by far--the largest arts event organised and performed by a collaboration of Indonesian youths from different schools and institutions. Right now, the show has been a bi-annual tradition in Singapore.

PAST SHOWS, NEW STORIES.

IAF 2003

September 9th, 2003 is a historic date for IAF. The first ever IAF was held at the Victoria Theatre, Singapore. This 'first time' effort by the committee surprisingly hit a 'sold out' status two weeks before the event date! almost 1000 pair of eyes witness the history in the making that day. Mocca, Bhumi Band, Wolu Singers, Oddie & Udjo of Project Pop and Miss Indonesia 2003 were invited to collaborate with other performances, in the making of the show 'Sebuah Awal' or in English 'A Beginning'. The show also donated SGD 6,000 to charity.

IAF 2005

As what the previous show theme said, it was just the beginning. Held on September 17th, 2005 at Kallang Theatre, Singapore, the venue was once again fully seated with 1,500 pair of eyes watching the show. This time, the committee created a concept of contemporer parade blends with traditional Indonesian folklore and produce a massive event with almost twice the production cost. Invited to spice up the night were MALIQ & d’essentials, Bhumi Band, and Arie Daginkz & Desta.
