Ibanez GA1G Guitar Amplifier
List: $60 ($48 discounted)

For the space constrained shredders, who don't care about cosmetic looks and want simplicity, and, want to rock the bedroom and still appreciate cute little objects.
Ibanez has answered the call. Coming from the GIO series, this amp is marketed as a budget series amp as compared to the Toneblaster series.

<Features:>
Gain, Tone and Volume.
Closed back.
On/Off switch.
1/4 input and output.
Green LED for "On" status.
Adapter included.
Single Channel. 4" speaker. 4 watt power.

<Tone:>
Tone knob is similar to a DS1.
setting: anti Clockwise = more bass, almost zero treble
12 o'clock = mid range bass, midrange treble.
Clockwise = mid range bass, more treble.

Distortion setting - With the gain knob cranked, this amp produces a sound that is close to the proco rat at 1/4 past 12. Great for blues riffs. Not for metalheads. Cleans up nicely when the volume knob of the strat hits 3-4 mark.
score: 8/10

Clean setting - The gain knob has got to go all the way to almost end. Otherwise the amp may mute off or gets dirty. Great for jazz finger picking style. If you hit the strings too hard, a slight distortion is audible. At least there's a clean channel.
score: 8/10

Overall: 70%

(The Ibanez GA1G has been tested with a fender strat, ts9, ds1 and a vox 847a)

Verdict:
This amp is has no fancy grill. Black is as dull as anything. But don't judge a book by its cover. I'm impressed by its loud and transparent voicing.

If you worry about China's QC, the workmanship is actually fine. No smudgy paintwork or glue. The knobs feel sturdy.
