Just today, my right wrist started have tingling sensations, and sometimes it also happens at forearm and the other part of the arm (the part above the elbow, don't know what is it called), thought the sensations are ocassional and lasts for only a second or so.

I just practiced on my practice kit for about 30 mins, when my ring and middle finger started to hurt. And then whenever I tried to hit the pad, I feel the pain in those two fingers. Not that they are taking the shock of the stroke, they just hurt.

Just last week, I had a 3 hour jamming session. During and after the jamming session, I found my little finger was absorbing shock from my strokes on the floor tom or ride (used as a crash ride). This may be related to the problem I'm having now, but I'm unsure.

I'm currently VERY concerned about this matter. I've tried to figure out the problem to this, but I can't figure it out. I play with a relaxed grip (probably except that jamming session which caused my little finger to hurt), and fairly good grip technique.

And most importantly, how do you cure carpal tunnel? What do I do? I really don't want to be quitting drums or letting something like this hinder my progress! Please help!

P.S. Everything that happens is on my right arm. My left arm doesn't have much problems at the moment.

Edit: Now I'm experiencing a little numbness behind the ring and middle finger of my LEFT hand. OMG THIS IS FREAKING ME OUT!

That sounds scary man. I think you really should go see a specialist. Get it checked out asap.

Also, it could be due to something else other than drumming. Do you game alot? Xbox, PC etc? Other sports? Does your teacher have anything to say about your grip?

I think my technique is fairly good and I play relaxed. I did some thinking and reflection and found that maybe the cause of this isn't drumming related.

I have a constant bad habit of using my wrists as head supports while sitting at a desk in school. I turn my wrists inward (pointing downwards) like a praying mantis, except the back of each wrists face each other. Try it out.

I think this habit may have caused the carpal tunnel. :\

Thanks for the link, it was a very detailed read.

Although I sometimes feel tingling or minor pain in the areas of the hand that the article described, I sometimes do feel the same sensations on my forearm, around 4 index finger width's length from the boundary of the wrist and also sometimes below the little finger. I also do not get woken up by the sensations or feel my hand asleep when I wake up.

Question though, can I continue drumming? I have jamming sessions tomorrow (Sunday), Monday, and the coming Friday. I wouldn't want to miss these :(
