gibson pickups

I have not actually tried it, but chances are it will sound quite similar. i think the choice of pickups is responsible for the majority of what you hear in a guitar's tone, but obviously you would want to put those Gibson pickups into a guitar that is of similar construction to a Les Paul.

i.e. Mahogany body with maple cap and set neck with rosewood fingerboard. 8)

well if you have a mahogany w/maple cap + mahogany neck guitar with humbuckers... my bet is that it will already sound gibsonish without Gibson pickups.

btw some gibson people change to seymour duncan pickups... and their guitar still sounds like a gibson.

so what is a

Gibson sound, Fender sound, Ibanez sound, Charvel sound, Jackson sound
Dean sound, Killer sound, ESP sound, B C rich sound or just a kramer sound?
