Curt Mangan Fusion Matched Nickel Wound (9-42)
$5.50

Who in guitar stringdom is Curt Mangan? Whoever he is, he sure lives up to his claims. However, there’s nothing new here, just electric guitar strings, care to read on?

According to the manufacturer, the CM ranges of strings are made from premium wire & a no-nonsense production method to offer players the best while not charging extra. The company also does not believe in cryogenic & coating treatment for their products as these contribute to costs rather than a real attempt at a quality offering.

In use, the strings in question have a very familiar inherent crisp to it- Ernie Ball! There’re no surprises here as Mr. Mangan himself was a former EB employee who decided to further his personal set of string philosophy. In addition to the crisp factor, the presence of certain rigidity here brings the DR/ D’addario brand name to mind. However, the degree of which is nothing excessive like the former but more marked than the latter. There is definitely evident presence as one continues to play with these strings on.

If you are hunting for a brand name which indulges in string preservation, please get on with others. After playing for hours on end, they do manifest moisture related markings but the magic here is the retention of that arguably unique feel. Mr. Mangan has chosen to offer players feel retention in favour of other string related plus points because his philosophy is clear- if your strings feel good, you play well. The rigidity in question is in healthy measure as it successfully prevents the strings from being too rubbery/ stiff. The presence alone will make many hooked while the wound units are as bend friendly as the plain one. A clever core-to-wrap ratio is the key.

Highly recommended.
