Any software or hardware to check volume level?

Since the old days of using DAT, I had been using Panasonic DAT player to check volume level for the entire program. As lots of thing is phrasing out, the DAT player began to turn old and by buying another DAT player just for the level checking is kinda ridiculous.

I'm kinda looking for an alternative way to do my volume checking which I had no much idea at all.

My soundcard Spdif it connected to this player so the graphical volume can be seen. Does anyone had any idea for volume checking?

Due to my job purposes, all music had to be at -6db. By looking at my software, sometime it wasn't that accurate enough.

nowadays with mainstream audio recording software like cubase le, you can pretty much max out your gain levels without distortion if you want to...

Im using Samplitude in office and we are very particular to vol level... Wondering is there a hardware to let us see the vol level only. hmm... Just in case the DAT player die off.. :wink:
