Just got back from Bangkok, and i must say, their music scene way surpass us. It seriously kicks ass.

Although some of their music is quite western influenced, but the quality is damn solid. Bought 2 albums when i was there and it cost me only 130 Baht each! Which comes up to about SGD$6.

And for every album, there's a karaoke version of it. Cheesy, but the videos i've watched does not seem like the usual chinese low budget quality MTVs.

Bought these 2 albums, AB Normal and Clash. Both very good bands. Friend introduced another band, SillyFools. But i din get a chance to listen to it more in depth.

Clash even toured australia and other parts of the west. Wow, it would be great if we can achieve these kind of standards locally.

And the amazing thing is that guys werent even singing in English! The music were all in Thai!

Clash? I don't know about their music but they probably "stole" that name from legendary punk band The Clash.

Maybe should ask them to change their band name! :D

Why would anyone wanna steal a band name in the first place?
Very shallow thinking. Might as well say all these bands from this site, http://www.digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/music0_name.html stole names.

Even The Clash got their name from a newspaper headline!

On the whole, Clash is a great band. If anyone has the chance, take some time to check out Thailand's music scene. Most of them professional level already!

I think maybe what Cloudsky meant is that if a certain name is already taken by a band, particulary by one that's famous and legendary, you should probably think twice about naming your band with the same moniker.

Like... Would you name your band Jam, Sex Pistols, Beatles, and the sort? No right? :)

And yes, the Thai scene is way too happening. Armchair is coming to Singapore for a tour with Electrico if I am not wrong. Also, you can check out Silly Fools at this years MTV Asia Awards Thai nominees page:

Why am I not surprised to see you here, bro TLB bro?

Hehehe... I heard a bit of Armchair's indie pop/ bossa nova stuff. Nice but I can't understand Thai. Sooooo...

But I <3 Futon . Very trashy. I rikes... a lotch...

And there's Brand New Sunset which came to Singapore recently...

there's a thai band with a skull of a buffalo for it's logo right? when i was there in sec 1 in 2003 i was blown away by their stuff... anyone know the band's name?

G6PD... their current album Past Of pieces rule and they are very nice guys.

For the rest of the folks, check out Clone.. pretty cool metal act as well.

Surrender of Divinity's latest Manifest Blaspheme is pretty alrite for black metal fans as well.

The Suns/boredphucks did Australia as did Electrico.

Rudra did Thailand, India, Indonesia.. and Impeity ruled certain parts of Europe

Meltgsnow toured Arizona's gothic circles and and play Thailand quite a bit.

Chou Pi Jiang did Hong Kong together with LMF

etc etc etc

Numerous other chinese bands and emo bands did Malaysis and sold cds to Taiwan, etc.

And honestly, the crowds in all these other places ruled, no pretensions, just pure rock and roll.

Maybe our local boys should notice what our own bands are doing, its pretty funny how these folks in other areas look up to some of our local bands while our folks over here look outward to them and lament when they didn't notice enough.

..

Yeah, the scene there is alive and happening! Had the opportunity to attend the 1st anniversary celebrations of indie label, SpicyDisc.

Blogged it in the Band Blog.

Killer bands and killer packaging. Waaaay ahead of our scene. Couple of pointers we can use from them :)

Ah Kiatt, the band is called kerbau or karabau. Hehe. Means same thing, even in malay, it means bull.

Yup, Brand New Sunset was awesome. Btw, there is BIG ASS, heavyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! I mean their music. LOL!
