zoom h4 or h2?

hi guys im planing to invest in a recorder for recording my band's jamming sessions but im not sure whether to get a zoom h4 or h2 im very new to this and hopefully im looking for the more user friendly recorder.maybe you guys and gals can share ur expericnes using it and which would u reccomend,much appriciated.cheers

H4 more complex,more expensive,more flexible. 4 track recorder.

haha cool2 aniwes another question both are compatible for recording in a jamming studio but which do u suggest i use bro?

it's about the purpose and the budget.

purpose : you wanna do own layered demo recording, get the H4. if just live recording : H2.

H2 is around $270
H4 is around $400

If you have no idea if you need XLR inputs, then H2. Otherwise H4.

hello everyone,

are there any alternatives (cheaper, smpler) for recording of band sessions than the H2 and H4? Would prefer a specialised recording recorder than using handphones and mp3 players as they tend to have better mics..

H2 AND H4 ARE the specialized recording recorder than's better than using handphones/mp3 players.

you want something in between = 2nd hand videocameras / MD

You can't get any simpler than the H2. But it does cost a little. If a whole band chips in, it's not too bad.

H2 is good. I'd used both for sampling before. Com mic? Don't bother.

unless a "com mic" like USB condenser.. but thats only mono..

oh but one of those usb mics would cost up to half the price of the H2. BTW try not to do a entire band chipping in to buy stuff kind of situation. It's not pretty when you need to split things up.

umm..i'm thinking about getting H4.. but if i'm in a bedroom or jamming studio.. the H4 can record well enough meh? dun expect much.. but i wanna know how good it can offer..
it has got to be able to really hear every single person playing.

ac : well what you said may be true, but bands can either chip in together to pay for recording for a few hours, or that might as well spend it on a recorder and take own sweet time to record. (but then time is needed to learn the how-tos etc)

unholyernest : if you're not in a rush to get H4, wait out for me to record some bands for free with the H4 then I'll post it up . besides H4 is cheaper during citymusic sale and all, so it's best if you can wait out. it'll be worth.
